1. Even if she was here legally she would be deportable for fraud, and possibly for
driving without a license (not sure if that's a felony charge in GA).

I thought all the illegals were saints who work hard and never break any laws?

7. also fraud on the college tuition
University System spokesman John Millsaps with the university system said college applications ask about citizenship but there is no process for verifying it if the would-be students says they are a U.S. citizen. The question of immigration status becomes an issue only if a college applicant says he is from another country. Out-state-students and exchange students pay four times the in-state rate and Colotl was assumed to be a Georgia resident because she graduated from a DeKalb County high school.

Papp has said that Colotl will now be charged out-of-state tuition.

31. But she wasn't an out of state resident and she pays taxes
in the state where she's going to school -- which is why residents are charged less than out of state students.

So, that will not happen because they have no case.

2. Wrong on so many levels!
The story of an immigrant who comes here as a child is an awful example of how bureaucracy and red tape disallows the law from being sensibly interpreted and implemented. What if you come here when you're 2 years old? Should you be deported when you are 22 and find out after being pulled over that your parents have lied to you and that you're really illegal? That's wrong. There needs to be a path to citizenship for immigrants of this nature - ones that did not know any better and that did not willingly or knowingly break a law.

6. Ilegal immigrant
caught by sheriff and then released by ICE? The agency who's job is to prevent unlawful illegal entry into the country?
No wonder the majority of people support laws like the one in AZ.

20. Queasiness?
Of course I support upholding the rule of law in our country and I sure as hell don't feel queasy about it. But then again, I'm not really the type to jump into fear based conspiracy like the 'death panels,' 'show me you're papers,' 'Obama is a socialist' or 'big business is taking over the world' folks either.

She is in our country illegally and there are legal procedures to deal with such unlawfulness.

"Of course I support upholding the rule of law in our country..."

Does that apply also to doing 65mph in a 65 zone and never, ever speeding, or does this apply only to laws you yourself agree with?

So, if I am going 66 in a 65, then I deserve to pay the price if or when caught.

27. Then there is no need for laws
If we allow emotional opinions to dictate what laws are ok to break and who is allowed to break them.

33. Then you agree with open
and uncontrolled borders? Ok, some people do. But, isn't it better to work and get laws changed instead of ignoring them and breaking them? Should we not abide by them until they are changed, even if we disagree with them?
Are you willing to let everybody ignore the laws they disagree with? Or just the ones you disagree with?

30. What a pantload. There is nothing "emotional" about the fact
that millions of people are caught up in our screwed up immigration policy, many of them children when they got here.

You don't have to be Barbara Cartland to figure that out.

34. Very true E
It is indeed a fact that millions of people are caught up in our immigration policy. The emotion part comes in when one believes it is ok for some people to break or ignore the law because the poor souls are only looking to better their life or just because its not their fault.

You want open borders? Change the law and welcome them all with open arms. Oops, sorry. I forgot there is no emotion whatsoever involved here. Can't expect you to be hugging people you don't care about. My bad.

Until then, obey the law.

But I can see how that would be a near concern of yours.

These people will continue to come here, much to the horror of the teaKlanners, as long as our government continues to commit rapine in Latin America. And since that won't stop any time some, you might as well get used to the company.

If they're going to punish anyone, it should be the parents. Not her. And shame on the nasty republicans, including Eric Johnson, who have been so insensitive and cruel in this matter.

32. Absolutely. The whole immigration system needs to be overhauled.
To make it less bloated, slow and expensive. So many who bag on illegal immigrants don't ever take into account the enormous expense, especially to people who find themselves here in a hurry because they are fleeing persecution and/or a death sentence by paramilitaries or drug cartel thugs.
