Should drilling be prohibited at certain depths?

The disaster in the Gulf is so deep that no one can get to it to fix it and no one knows how to stop it. We are facing a catastrophe of undefinable magnitude. The question should have been asked before it happened.

The pressure at those depths, as some here have noted, is so strong that it is too dangerous to be messing with. It is too deep to reach by humans. Common sense should have dictated that we not drill in such a manner.

But greed has no boundaries. And when there is no one to regulate the greed, this kind of shit will happen. And it will happen again and again. Unfortunately, our government was asleep at the wheel.
