Fleas, Rodents, Mold All Call Health Department Home
LANCASTER, Ohio — Fleas, raccoons, bats, and mold were all found in a centuries-old health department building.
A building from the 1800s that can no longer serve modern day needs has the Fairfield County Health Department looking for a new home, 10TV's Lindsey Seavert reported on Friday.
County Health Commissioner Frank Hirsch said he is not always alone when he is his office.
"We do have bats, that is part of working here, I guess you could say," Hirsch said.
In the basement, it is worse, Seavert reported.
"This is not probably good," Hirsch said. "I am afraid to actually find out if it is lead paint."
Crews vacuum for fleas everyday, after a severe infestation shut the building down for several days in April.
Employees caught a barn swallow that was flying through a hallway on Friday and they said it is not unusual to find chipmunks running under their feet.
