4. And what school did Obama go to? Harvard or Yale? |
|
The SCOTUS should be an elected position like Congress and the WH, Scalia proves it.

5. The most conservative court in history did get one thing right ... a video response |
|
Satire spot on the "crush video" ruling (U.S. v. Stevens) ... I think that this is one thing that the Ivy League SCOTUS got right, and I'm amazed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CYVxP0DEAI

6. Kagan would make the court LESS diverse in at least three ways |
|
Besides the Harvard/Yale thing alluded to in the cartoon, she also makes the court 2/3 Catholic & 1/3 Jewish (Stevens is the lone remaining Protestant.) Also, while having three women on the court adds to the diversity, the fact that all three are from New York City does NOT.
It shouldn't be that difficult to find a decent judge from different geographical, religious, or educational background.

|
Edited on Sat May-15-10 05:18 PM by BrklynLiberal
Only half kidding....:hide:
She sure did add to the diversity...
She was born in El Paso, Texas, to Harry Alfred Day, a rancher, and Ada Mae Wilkey.<7> She grew up on a cattle ranch near Duncan, Arizona. She later wrote a book with her brother, H. Alan Day, Lazy B : Growing up on a Cattle Ranch in the American Southwest, about her childhood experiences on the ranch. For most of her early schooling, O'Connor lived in El Paso with her maternal grandmother, and attended public schools and the Radford School for Girls, a private school. She graduated sixth in her class at Austin High School, in El Paso, in 1946.<8> She is a sister of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She attended Stanford University, where she received her B.A. in economics in 1950. She continued at the Stanford Law School for her LL.B., serving on the Stanford Law Review; with its presiding Editor in Chief, future Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist who was the class valedictorian,<9> and whom she briefly dated during law school.<10>
