OSU hospitals to operate clinics in 2 Giant Eagles


Ohio State University Medical Center is going into the retail health-clinic business.

This fall, the OSU medical staff will manage clinics inside Giant Eagle stores in Gahanna and Upper Arlington. Both FastCare clinics will be located near OSU doctors' offices.

The Giant Eagle sites will be staffed by OSU nurse practitioners and connected to the health system's electronic medical records.

"It will be an extension to our offices," said Dr. Mary Jo Welker, executive director of Ohio State's primary-care network.

"It will be open to the public, but also if our patients needed to be seen acutely and we couldn't work them into our schedule that day, they could go there."
