Just think ... If Ségolène Royal had won the election ...
we would perhaps have had the pleasure someday of seeing the wingnut-in-chief extend an official welcome to an unwed mother of four who just happened to be her country's leader, co-equal with The Commander Guy™ himself.

It would have been worth it, just to see radical clerics like Robertson and Fallwell forcing themselves to refrain from spewing foam for the sake of not embarassing their clueless marionette.

1. Apparently, Sarkhozy's family are not exactly Ozzie & Harriet. Bill Maher
said Sarkhozy and his wife live separately.

3. you're right
in fact, she left him for another man, moved to the States with him and then Sarkozy convinced (or allegedly paid) her to come back for the Election. They live in separate homes in different parts of the City and lead separate lives. She'll occasionally do an event with him, now and then, but it's basically a rather strained friendship rather than a marriage.

4. Just as well
"it's basically a rather strained friendship rather than a marriage"

Maybe it's good preparation for dealing with BushCo.

9. It's an (unfortunately badly misspelled) Italian phrase meaning ...
"Yet it moves."

Apocryphally attributed to Galileo, on leaving the Inquisition chambers, where he formally disavowed any belief that the Earth moved about the Sun. Probably a creation of an admiring biographer.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me that, in the old Paduan dialect (or something) it's properly spelled.

Even if it's not true, it nicely summarizes my admiration for those who resist the intrusion of religious dogma into science.

13. Ahhh, maturity is in the eye of the beholder.
If the election had gone Royal's way, any rioting would be seen as the immaturity of the RW fascists. ;)
