Link to Maine's crazy Republican party platform
As the news has reported, the Maine Republican Party has been taken over my tea baggers, and they got their tea party platform accepted as the official Republican Party Platform in Maine.

I know something similar happened in Utah, but Utah is such a conservative Republican state that it is not atypical. People in Maine are fairly moderate though.

I wonder if the Maine GOP will be successful in fighting the one world government's attempt to confiscate their firearms. Also, if you take a bill out of your wallet, you will see at the top it says "Federal Reserve Note". Their platform seeks to end the Federal Reserve, so one wonders what is going to happen to these little green pieces of paper in my wallet. What a bunch of loons...

Here is the platform -

Today this state and the nation are in crisis precisely because we as a people have failed to maintain that vigilance<...>The Tea Party movement is reminiscent of the principled revolt that led to the birth of the Republican Party in 1854<...>
h. Oppose any and all treaties with the UN or any other organization or country which surrenders US sovereignty. Specifically:
i. Reject the UN Treaty on Rights of the Child.
ii. Reject “LOST” the Law Of The Sea Treaty.
iii. Reject any agreement which seeks to confiscate our firearms.
<...>
Pass and implement Fed bill #1207 (Introduced by Ron Paul), to Audit the Federal Reserve, as the first step in Ending the Fed.
<...>
Repeal and prohibit any participation in efforts to create a one world government.

feel about it? It looks like it was written by the Pilgrims!

I suspect these nutballs will force the real people of Maine to vote Dem for sure. They don't have 2 very moderate Senators for nothing! The people who designed that platform are radical to say the least!

3. In both parties
platforms are meaningless little excercises to let the far left and the far right in your party blow off some steam so that they can unite behind the nominees. They are less substantial than the next piece of graffiti you will see on a highway overpass.
