This is why we should not end our dependence on foreign oil... |
|
Really, who cares if someone else messes up their country as long as our country stays clean.

would be nice, but when do you suppose the airline indusrty will start flying non-oil driven engines? Not in our life times.

You don't put a sarcasm tag and people just assume you must be serious. Too many people don't care they're destroying this planet. Those who do don't seem to get heard loudly enough. It's a shame.

And we can blame the victims. Lies don't matter as long as the American public can be kept compliant and ignorant.

Firstly, I care about others messing up their country since it's OUR planet. You can't localize an ecological disaster...just ask all those who experienced fallout from Chernobyl. Also the oil market is international...any disruption spikes the price as we'll soon see as this BP disaster continues to unfold.
This country is hooked on oil like it's heroin...and this is like saying "I don't care who the junkie is, just make sure I get my fix". Sadly it's this mindset that has hurt the development of alternative energy sources and will continue as long as people are so reliant on their cars as their primary means of transportation.

did you forget the sarcasm thing?
and last time I checked, this latest little oil volcano in the gulf is messing up our country. Not that there hasn't been countless "spills" in the gulf up until this point.

7. Sorry, I did not realize sarcasm was necessary... |

Will be more mindful next time.
I hope that we will learn a lesson from all this and try to curtail our dependence on all fossil fuels, but I'm sincerely doubting it. Most people, it seems, have very short memories. Especially those who make their money from oil or those who have huge freaking cars.

10. The US suffers from short attention span theater. |

once upon a time, we remembered things, but the majority now get their crap news from the tv machine which recycles the same crap over and over with a new and creative twist each and every time to keep things...interesting. Least of all truthful.
when we as a nation are fed the latest "outrage" in 30 second sponsor soaked news blurbs, is it any wonder why people move on to the latest shiny object 30 seconds later?
we are a nation of brain washed miner birds.
