Note to Chuck Todd, MSNBC: this is one reason why you're such a PUTZ! |
|
On this morning's Daily Rundown show, Chuck Todd had a segment on the proper pronunciation of "Arkansas." It seems there's a law on the books dating back to the 1800s that prohibits pronouncing "Arkansas" with the emphasis on the "kansas" part of the word.
It's properly pronounced "Arkansaw" and improperly/illegally pronounced "ArKANSAS."
Chuck Todd dismissed it, comparing it to the use of "Democratic" and "Democrat" which of course is TOTAL BULLSHIT. The use of "Democrat" is generally considered to be an insult, or demeaning term to describe a Democratic member of the Democratic Party, usually used by a right winger.
Can't MSNBC find someone better than Chuck Todd? I mean, really, the bar is set pretty low here. The guy isn't attractive, he has a weak voice, and his right leaning politics are very obvious. I would bet there's someone else who could replace him easily.
My suggestion to MSNBC: Do the same thing you did to Tucker Carlson. Jettison Todd to the stratosphere and let Faux News hire him as their "political expert."
Todd, your bright RED panties are showing! Why not give up any and all pretense of being a journalist? You're not.

saw that segment.
I remember Todd when he was with Hotline. The guy is nothing more than a fire breathing wingnut.
Never, EVER, has anything positive to say about Democrats.

When a talking head has to pause before they say "Democratic" rather than "Democrat" it says a lot of where they came from.
Chuckles used to iritate me when he was a talking point spewer for Hotline and he hasn't changed since. I think it's more being lazy...he's made it this far by playing "telephone" inside the beltway...sure beats having to fact check or serious reporting.

3. "Democrat" is not an insult when it's used as a noun. |
|
Democrat 1. An advocate of democracy. 2. One who believes in social equality or discounts distinctions in rank. http://www.answers.com/topic/democratUsing it as an adjective is considered a smear.

8. Right. When someone is described as being a member of the |
|
"Democrat Party" it's an insult. Being a Democrat is not.
And time and time again, people like Boehner identify someone as a member of the Democrat Party. Only once have I seen a journalist correct them, and make the distinction that the term is considered insulting. I believe it was someone on CNN.
I don't think I've ever heard John Boehner use the term correctly. Perhaps it's all that nicotine seeping out of his pores turning his skin orange. It's got to be doing the same thing to his brain, what little there is left of it.

We pronounce it both ways when referring to the river or the city. But why the hell is Chuck Putz Todd bloviating about this??? As if it's a critical issue!?

13. This Kansan does not pronounce it both ways. |
|
Perhaps its because I grew up on the "Great Bend" of the R-Kansas river.
But it does not seem a big issue.

6. Is Arkansas in the news? No? IOW, an excuse to make "Democrat" as an adjective acceptable. |

7. He's an idiot because nobody says the "Republic" party. Words have their meaning and |

place. There is no reason to cut the last 2 letters in Democratic.

9. chuck todd was great when he was off camera crunching numbers |
|
and feeding that info to actual journalists. In front of the camera he's obviously a massive tool. He's one of the chattering class that forces me to change channels instantly.

can't be good at crunching numbers when you are corporate-owned like Chuck. They don't add up.

17. Yes, I've complained about Todd more than once. |
|
I even got an E-mail back from him at one point.
How a network inspired enough to have Olbermann and Maddow on can stoop so low as to have the likes of Todd, Mitchell, Scarborough, etc., on is beyond me.

21. Just a little back story about Mr. Todd that akes you go "hmmmmm?" |
|
His wife, Kristian Denny Todd, is a long time, reasonably successful Democratic political strategist and communications consultant. Their marriage could be an Odd Couple thing like Matalin and Carville, but it would seem not. I've heard Todd speak about his mother in Florida in ways that made me think she was a Democrat, too.
None of this says that *he* is a Democrat, but I suspect he is. Centrist, perhaps, but still a Democrat.
Like you, however, I too dislike the guy.
