When you think about it, the GOP actually invented the "junk shot."

There's been a lot of talk about BP attempting to plug the Gulf leak using a "junk shot": pumping it full of various and sundry pieces of useless junk in the hopes that if they launch enough of that crap into the leak, it will stopper the flow.

I believe that BP most likely got this idea from their friends and buddies in the GOP. Lately, they've made an art out of attempting to plug things up and stop the normal flow of government by shooting any and every chunk of garbage and trash they can find, or make up, at any attempt by the rest of the country to do anything useful. So far, they have an excellent track record with this method, although it has not worked each and every time.

The Republican Party: masters of the "junk shot." Anytime they think something might happen that they don't want to have happen, or someone might achieve something they don't want that person to achieve, they pitch junk at it, in hopes of bringing it all to a halt.
