If you want border security how about a law that says half-term Governors of Alaska should STFU and stay out of the lower 48. That kind of border security I can go for. She's now saying that we all are Arizonans because we want our border secured.
What an ass. :argh:
Maybe protesters at her rallies and the tea bag rallies should carry signs that state: FACT FREE ZONE INSIDE. IF YOU ARE GULLIBLE, YOU ARE WELCOME

3. No we don't. We need to make the job market unattractive here by |

making employers obey the laws already on the books.

The "border" issue would pretty well take care of itself if there were no jobs here.
This is why there will be no real Republican push THAT WOULD WORK on immigration reform... their corporate chums would be out cheap labor that can't squeal when labor, wage, and safety laws are broken on the job.
That "dang" fence is smoke and mirrors... we aren't dealing with idiots here. These hungry people will find a way to get here.

I rather there were jobs here, but there was no advantage to hiring illegal immigrants.
I THINK that's what you mean.

That was a drive-by post... shame on me for not being more clear!
I would rather take all the money "we" spend on hating the Latinos and use it to make their lives better in their own countries, or use it to put the smack-down on all the creeps that hire undocumented workers. They are used as slave labor here, and that disgusts and embarrasses me.

If illegal aliens were deported, but compensated by differential for the difference between what they were paid while working here and the minimum wage, with treble punitive damages, I guarantee you, there would be no incentive to hire undocumented workers.
True, we would have un-picked crops rotting in the fields for a couple of years, but they would learn.
Eventually, they would learn...
As would we.

16. We could put welfare recipients to work in the fields... |
|
Work-fare is a good idea. Those jobs would pay minimum wage. You'd have to force some lazy butts out there, no question. I think it would catch a lot of people who are milking the system. If people are accepting unemployment benefits, they have to promise to take work if it's offered... there's another source.
I like your idea too... I'm all for anything that lessens the incentive for all concerned.

If we had proper trade, there would be no issue. And what's wrong with putting people to work? I know many people looking for work right now and would gladly work for minimum wage doing farm work. It's honest work. WTF is wrong with honest pay for honest work? Obviously some people are physcially or mentally unable to work, but I'm not talking in terms of a broad brush here.

The reason it happens is because there is money to be made.
Cheap labor, right here in the US. Who can resists?
But be ready for the consequences. If we make the punitive damages high enough that there is no incentive to hire illegals, the next cheapest solution is to take the jobs across the border, or overseas...

22. This is why we need to bring back tariffs on imports. |
|
Once we get that balance of trade thing working, we might start making things in this country again and we will be looking to import labor, legally, from across the border.

17. I'll say it again..seize the businesses that use illegal labor |
|
Sell or auction those businesses to competitors who operate their businesses legally.
Start seizing farms, businesses, construction companies and pretty soon those ads they beam south of the boarder will dry up and the labor pool becomes legal residents.

Do you seriously think that any amount of security is going to REALLY change anything along the southern border? Really determined smugglers (of humans) and desperate people will always find a way to get anywhere they need to go. By the tone of the anti-immigration groups, you would think that every person in Mexico is trying to come up here.
Counter this with Cubans coming into Florida. More often than not, they are accepted without question, at least not from the US side of it. And counter this with folks coming in from the Asian countries, Canada, Europe or any other group in the world.
The way these anti-immigration people are thinking is downright bigotry. Nothing less than racial hatred.

should have asked that of Bush. After all he had eight years to accomplish that and Obama has only had a year and almost a half. But then it just goes to show as I posted before, the republicans just don't expect other republicans to be able to solve problems. They expect the Democratic Party to do that. Look at Virginia they elect a scum bum republican he runs the state into the ground and then they elect a Democrat to clean up the mess. The republicans all know the Democrats are a hell of a lot better at running the country than they are.
