Bristol Palin Signs Deal For Up To $30,000 Per Speech
Edited on Tue May-18-10 04:42 AM by Are_grits_groceries
Bristol Palin has signed with a speakers bureau for a tidy sum of between $15,000 and $30,000 per speech, RadarOnline reports.

<snip>
Palin's listed programs include "Abstinence," "Conference," "Fundraiser," "Pro-Life," "Special Event/Holiday," "Women's," and "Youth" -- She also looks to be the relatively new bureau's highest-profile speaker to date, except perhaps for Drew Brees.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/17/bristol-palin-speech-30000_n_579545.html

And in other news, Piper Palin will be available to speak to elementary school assemblies for a fee of $5000. Her topics will include: Pre-abstinence, Grifting Tips for Youth, and Babysitting for Free.

That family makes Travelers look like slackers.
I think Levi should be off the hook for a very high child support payment. He should help, but not at the rate they wanted. Can he sue her for any type of support even though they weren't married?

With apologies to Sam Cooke:

Change one word and you have the Palin family theme song.

3. I had my first child at 17
And it was a hard row to hoe. I was married at the time, though, so I guess I probably don't count for the "get money for nothing".

This family disgusts me. There are literally millions of girls that give birth before age 18 every year and for them, it's just a life of hardship. They aren't rich and they don't get "speaker's fees" (though apparently a couple of them did end up on some MTV special).

:puke:

8. I was married at 18, had my first child when I was
19, and was working a clerking job and going to college too. I remember what it felt like then feeling my way around trying to be an adult worker and mother with all the sheer exhaustion of trying to hold everything together in spite of a husband who still thought he should not forfeit any pleasures in life for the responsibility. I had come from a very poor family with no support beyond emotional.

While I felt a certain degree of sympathy for Bristol early on, I have come to the conclusion that she has learned nothing more from her mother than how to manipulate people. I truly feel sorry for these babies in this family. They don't stand a chance at learning anything beyond the art of grifting.

36. Amazing how much your story sounds like mine
Except I did it all a year earlier. Complete with the "husband who still thought he should not forfeit any pleasures in life for the responsibility". We divorced when I was 23.

I had a certain amount of sympathy for Bristol at first, too. I always do when someone so young gets pregnant. But then, she glamorizes it and uses it as propaganda, to push an agenda, and I lose all respect and sympathy for her. Then again, it really hits home how different life is for you if you get pregnant at 17 and are rich vs it happening when you are poor and have family that can only provide emotional support (and free babysitting).

37. Our stories are similar, except my divorce
came after sticking it out for 20 years. Your reactions to Bristol mirror my own. She's learned one thing from her mother--how to exploit her child for personal gain.

Under what legal theory? Please note that "Do not like the Palins" fails the legal theory test.

6. **sigh**
I was mulling an option that I doubted had any legal basis. She is going to make a lot of money. If they were married now and divorcing, I believe this would be an option. I could be wrong.

11. They were never married.
I was mulling the situation without that event. I also don't follow every move they make. I usually see the headlines which are enough. I'm not trying to squabble with you over this, although I seem to be doing a good job of it.

28. If they have joint custody
Then support is to be split 50/50. In my state, that means the add up both incomes, Compare that number to a chart to get the "base support" for that child, then split the base up based on the the percentage each person makes of the combined income.

If they have joint custody, then yes, she could be paying him.

18. Good for her
If someone is stupid enough to pay her, that's $30 grand that's not going to attack ads and dirty tricks. Of course I can see the disappointment on the faces of the faithful "Hey we got Palin for the fundraiser!" "Wow, Sarah Palin?" "Uh no, Bristol Palin, but she's pretty good too."
