On a more serious note..

What's happened to your nephew's partner is sadly all too common. Happens in my family too. I've confronted homophobic family members and took no shit from them. But, that's not always possible for so many gay people who live in fear. I don't blame them at all for their fear. Homophobic family members can be very scary and difficult to confront.

It's rarely worth fighting those family members because really, they ain't worth it.

Instead I've learned to focus on strengthening relationships with family that do support me.

Your nephew and his partner are lucky to have an uncle like you, Mark!
