New Scientist Special Report: Living In Denial
http://www.newscientist.com/special/living-in-denial

"From climate change to vaccines, evolution to flu, denialists are on the march. Why are so many people refusing to accept what the evidence is telling them?

In this special feature we look at the phenomenon in depth. What is denial? What attracts people to it? How does it start, and how does it spread? And finally, how should we respond to it?"

-------------------

This is a long series of articles that attempts to answer that series of questions. It's worthy of reading, IMO, and certainly worthy of genuine discussion, if that's possible.

:hi:

"Republicon corporations pay me Beaucoup Megamillions every year to keep spouting lies about all this crap to convince my DittoHead TeaBagging Sheeple (R). They all meekly bend over, assume the position, and swallow. Bwaaa ha ha ha. Go figure. Guess they just luvs them some overpaid draft-dodging blowhards like me, Becky Boy, Hannity, and Loofah-twit O'Rielly. Smirk."

3. Saw a small example in a TV nature program last night.
The gulls in the Shetlands stopped laying eggs. Why ? Because the warmer sea has made the planckton move north and the small eels which live on that planckton have gone north too. So - the gulls have insufficient food.
