2. There are lots of materials that will soak up oil... |
|
the best I've ever come across is dried sphagnum peat moss. Polypropylene is also used throughout the industry. Both dried sphagnum and polypro are oleophilic and hydrophobic, so they only soak up the oil, and not the water that the oil is floating in.

4. But, if it's all soaked up and "barrier-ized" |
|
then it would no longer be viable for possible production and/or would make it more difficult to do so since the veggie fibers will need to be strained out. :sarcasm:
More seriously, I highly doubt that BP would like those ideas because of the industry "try-to-recover-and-sell" overall standard greed policy :grr:

5. Works fine in a salad bowl... |
|
But not very practical in 3-6ft seas, and in a 1 mile deep ocean...Nice try... might work close to shore, but I wonder if there's enough damn hay available to soak up what's there now and is still spewing into the gulf? The real solution? Ban offshore drilling...

Most efforts seem to be on the clean-up, which is fine, how about stopping the flow and banning offshore WHILE we clean up?

10. and I didn't say that... |

Let the good ol' boys do their job while others figure out how to plug it up.
Personally I think they should shove Rush Limbaugh's fat ass into the pipe to stop the flow

Why didn't I think of that? Actually, the good ol boys solution has merit. Using un-tried methods of chemical dispersants seems freaky to me. At least they have an organic solution. good ol boys ain't as dumb as we think. People of the land often have holistic solutions to things...

7. product on Ed Schultz also touted |
|
A while back, someone who sells a product that I think is called BioGreen Clean, was on Ed Schultz, and they both said it would work.
I'm not touting this... just reporting.
