Barbara Bush addresses families of fallen police officers - -So. Why no soldier's families?
Sunday Barbara Bush addressed the family members of 24 officers killed in the line of duty. Bush served as keynote speaker at a luncheon at the Austin Sheridan.

Their names were added to the Peace Officers Memorial at the Texas Capitol. There are hundreds of names listed. During her speech, Bush spoke of the officers sacrifice and community service.

"As police officers they saw the best and worst of human nature. Your heroes realize that we are a nation constantly dealing with danger, but we're also a nation of citizenship and patriotism and service, which is why they were so willing to put themselves in harms way, said former first lady Barbara Bush.

Bush went on to tell the crowd she and former President Bush believe being a peace officer is one of the most difficult jobs in the world.

3. "Why bother her 'beautiful mind'"?

:grr:

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? I mean, it's not relevant.
So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

Remember when former First Lady Barbara Bush said that on "Good Morning America"?

It was in 2003. March 18, to be exact.

She was defending her son's decision to serve up a sterilized war to the American
public by censoring images of flag-draped coffins of men and women killed in Iraq.
No need to remind people of what we've lost by showing such gloomy coffins.
No need to acknowledge those lives that ended much too soon.

4. After seeing that photo, park rangers frantically checked to see if George Washington was still on
Mt. Rushmore.

"President Washington doesn't look that bad, but we thought pulling himself off that mountain might have done that to his face."

6. My heart goes out to those families
It's hard to imagine losing a family member, and then being addressed by the Mother of All Evil.

7. To my thinking, you'd have to truly hate the dead to allow a Bush
to speak about them

well, that or be brain-dead yourself
