2. I voted for Joe this morning. I'm betting my brother $50 that if Specter wins, and beats Toomey |
|
he will switch back to republican. (And laugh at how he got all those stupid Democrats to give him money, time and energy to GOTV for him)

If Specter somehow hangs onto his Senate seat, look for him to rejoin the Republican caucus by March 2011. :hi:

3. I enjoy the idea of the schadenfreude of a Specter loss. |
|
But to be honest, I don't know if Sestak is any better, or how his odds are in the general in comparison to Specter.

4. We finally did decide on Sestak and voted at 9:30 AM. Don't think he is as liberal |
|
as he is made out to be, but we are just disgusted with the special treatment given to Specter after the decades as a republican, voting for McCain in '08, and the fawning over him by Ed Rendell, who I really despise. Arlen has been around long enough.

In the end it was probably alot of the "lesser of two evils" condition. At least Sestak will be looking to be re-elected. One had to wonder if Arlen was on his last term one way or another.

Not because I really am, but because he really needed a vote.

12. Because it's not really a vote |
|
And has no power to elect or even persuade.

18. That's one step beyond |
|
people who would throw away their vote on a write-in or 3rd party candidate in the name of some idealistic "principle." Wars were fought for your right to vote, and if you are a woman, your "sisters" went to prison and suffered abuse for your right to vote.

14. I'd like to see Joe take the primary and then crush Toomey in the general. |
|
I think both things are well within reach.
I've just never had a whole lot of respect for Arlen Specter, and his decades of Nixon / Reagan / Bush / Bush votes are especially repellent.

16. Before, I figured I'd stay out of it and just cheer on the Democrat. |
|
But I think Joe Sestak has to win if we want a realistic chance of holding the seat.

19. worked for Sestak all day |
|
made 300+ phone calls to very enthusiastic supporters of him, then was on Hardball and Ed Schultz in the background, then more phone calls then went to Sestak's party.
I like the guy and I think he has a good shot at winning the general. His daughter at the victory party looked like she was going to fall asleep though.
