Always liked Andrea Mitchell - UNTIL TODAY

Boy did she skewer Sestak today...She seemed angry with him from the minute he sat down.

She started by saying that Sestak was misrepresenting Specter's voting record, that he did not always vote with Bush and that he voted with Dems many times. Sestak agreed, saying that Harry Reid had said that Specter was always there when they didn't need him.

Sestak responded by saying that Specter voted with Bush and Cheney on the Iraq war, the tax increase, and...and then Mitchell interrupted him. Then Sestak says that it was nice that Specter voted for the Stimulus package - because his votes caused the conditions that brought about the need for a stimulus package. Sestak could answer anything, and the better he did, the angrier she seemed to get.

What really got me mad was when she accused Sestak of insensitivity, cruelty, whatever, because he said that Specter was a "dead walking man." Anybody who reads mystery novels or watched the "Sopranos," knows that that expression means a person's life was over - not due to age or physical condition, but because they rubbed somebody the wrong way and it was just a matter of time. That's how Sestak meant it - it had nothing to do with Specter's cancer or old age - he was at the end of his political life because he rubbed people the wrong way. Sestak said that Specter could not win in November.

Andrea is markedly for Specter. And she must be an optimist to think that an 80-year old man will live the 6 years - and that's MY opinion, not Sestak's. Mike Barnacle came on shortly after Sestak and he had no smile or friendly greeting for Mitchell. I think he shared my disapproval of her interview.

I find it actually informative to hear what was decided at the cocktail parties and on Blackberry's the night before

I agree with almost none of it but she does let us see into that world. She should have her husband on and ask him what it like to have to admit that everything he ever believed in was so drastically wrong.
