The Merits of Medical Marijuana: The top 10 conditions it may help.

The Merits of Medical Marijuana
The top 10 conditions it may help.
By Sally Wadyka for MSN Health & Fitness
5/18/2010

Few issues in the world of medicine are as controversial as the issue of medical marijuana. To date, 14 states—Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington—have legalized the dispensing and use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. And as other states weigh the option of joining the movement, the debate rages within the medical community as to whether pot is good medicine or a risky proposition to give a dangerous drug an undeserved halo of health.

Cancer
Fibromyalgia
Arthritis
Glaucoma
PMS
Alzheimer’s
HIV/AIDS
Crohn’s disease
Migraines
Insomnia

Please read the details on how medical pot can help people who suffer from the above conditions at:

1. Add Meinere's disease to that list.
Marijuana is the only thing that helps when I get a vertigo attack. It helps cut down the tinnitus too.

2. On the other hand, it causes extreme paranoia and delusional thinking...
...in some of those who have never tried it.

5. I had never credited it
with stopping my migraines until a few months ago ... and I think it still helps keep them at bay: even though I essentially stopped smoking about 10 years ago and recently started getting ocular migraines, I'm not getting full blown migraines anymore (yet).

14. Some cannabinoids (over 100 identified so far) are potent vasodilators.
That is why cannabis has been used to combat (and prevent) migraines for over a century in this country, and for millennia in others.

6. Add auto-immune endocrine disorders to that list.
They can't make the claim that it weakens the immune system and deny the benefits of said effect.

15. Surveys of MS patients show that upwards of 50% now use cannabis to combat symptoms.

That high usage rate applies whether patients live in legal mmj states or not.

It also appears to slow the progression of MS and several other diseases, including Alzheimers, Lou Gehrig's disease and Parkinson's disease.

I believe that MS is a qualifying condition in all 14 states (and DC) that have legal mmj programs.

10. Instant heartburn relief.
One bowl provides the relief that 15-20 Tums usually takes. It's not even a choice for me with my GERD; if I feel the burn, I grab the bong.

11. And if you smoke too much, you'll forget that you are drowning in oil.
... for a little while, at least.

13. I think I might have read somewhere
that it also helps with memory loss. Or maybe it was something else. Actually I don't know if I read it or saw it on a news show on TV. I may have also stumbled upon it on the internet. Wasn't there a post here about this not too long ago?
