Monsanto's Buy Out of University Research on The Cheap
Edited on Wed May-19-10 01:56 AM by truedelphi
Interesting discussion herein about the way that Monsanto buys out the needed government officials and the needed university laboratory specialists:

PLEASE NOTE: YOU do have to scroll down a bit to get to this story - the first real article on this page.

Last year, Steve Hixon, who runs a seed cleaning company in Illinois spoke out about the control that Monsanto has over the ecosystem through various factors -

Hixon: "By donating a million bucks to each school, Monsanto can expect taxpayers to pick up the remaining tab on what would have cost them a billion on their own. This doesn't include their added funding from the USDA and farmers' check-off dollars." Hixon added that the company can then use the money it saved to buy more seed companies.

1. BP DOLLARS TO BERKELEY
BP is running a similar scam on biofuels at the University of California @ Berkeley.

3. That article is utterly incoherent, just bits and pieces of gibberish
Even the little part you cite - that Monsanto donated a million dollars to each of some number (unstated) of Universities and somehow that forces taxpayers to pay for ... well, pay for what? It never says. The entire article is like that, just some vague insinuation that evil is being done, a little flippant excuse for a fact, and then some conclusion that is seemingly unrelated to anything said before. Oh, and it is dated September of last year.

4. I stated that this was from last year.
I will be interviewing Mr Hixon sometime later this month. It is not his fault that his statements were not edited in a proper manner. I do agree that they are lacking in the way they are put on the page.

Not sure I'd say gibberish, but close. And the mis-editing of his remarks do not mean that he doesn't have a point.

I mean, why won't Bob Kremer say anything to me? Don Huber will, as he is older, retired and has a paid for house and Monsanto penision is intact. Kremer became a Monsanto critic while still relatively young - and I imagine he cannot afford to be blacklisted by Monster Monsanto if he wants to work inthis chosen field.
