The MSM seems to think the Rand Paul victory means a Teabagger takeover in 2010 |
|
I don't believe it does. Paul is an outlier. He has great name recognition because of his father. Many of his beliefs do tend to mirror a lot of the heinous ones espoused by the TB's. However, he isn't nearly as bellicose when talking about those ideas as a lot of the TB candidates are. Paul is a much more insidious form of Teabaggerism because he isn't so obvious. That will draw in more than the kooks in the TB base.
TBs make up only a small percentage of the electorate. They get 90% of the coverage. When people vote in their individual elections, they may shy away from the very heinous ideas that the TB candidates spout. That depends on the location.
I believe the TBs represent a much greater threat to the GOP than the Dems. A TB candidate won't draw nearly as many of the independents or fence sitting Rethugs as Paul did IMHO. I am probably way off the mark. The MSM can't seem to push the TB takeover hard enough. That is their new meme based on one Rethug primary.
The 2010 election is still a crapshoot. I wouldn't bet on it unless I had access to the computers the speed traders on Wall Street do.

McConnell, Bunning, and now maybe this guy?
I've got a headache just thinking about it.

Candidate Rand, how do you feel about farm subsidies?
Candidate Rand, what would you do to the Social Security and Medicare programs?

This will embolden Palin even more and the nutiness will be exposed even more. I predict the Democrats will be forced to move left and will have a comfortable advantage when all is said and done.

10. The tube is on in the background and I swear I just heard Pat Buchanan say - |
|
"If a person is pro-life and anti-Obamacare, why wouldn't they vote for him?" The stupidity of the statement is mind boggling. If "Obamacare" is repealed, a whole lot of old, walking, talking embryoes are going to die. Is that "pro-life?"

12. Paul won a republican primary which means baggers own the repugs |
|
Baggers have yet to win anything. Paul has to win Kentucky. I would like to hope there are enough sane Kentuckians that that will not happen.

they like all the benefits of "aligning" themselves with the ball lickers, but they really don't care for the ball lickers themselves.
it's all about getting elected and not the messy details of actually doing the work of a politician. All face time, all the time, with no substance.
