Is Rendell about to sit on his hands for Sestak?
Sounds like it by his mood.

ennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said in an interview that Sen. Arlen Specter was defeated by Rep. Joe Sestak in the Democratic Senate primary because voters "misunderstood" Specter's reasons for switching parties after four decades as a Republican. He already has endorsed Sestak and said he isn't worried the Democratic party will take long to heal any primary wounds, but sounded downright worried about whether Democrats can keep the seat in a general election matchup with former Rep. Pat Toomey.

"No one can replace Arlen right away but hopefully Congressman Sestak or Congressman Toomey can grow in the job," Rendell (D-PA) told me in an interview after midnight as he drove home from an election night event. "Joe has a real chance to win but it's at best a tossup."

3. Theatrics
Specter is still Senator for eight months and we'll need him (as will Pennsylvania). These shows of respect are part of the deal. Let Specter and Sestak take the lead on putting the primary behind them and guys like Rendell will obviously follow.

4. Only Specter to blame
Specter had a chance to explain clearly why he switched. It never sounded very good. Maybe it was Ed that "misunderstood".

7. Sorry but Arlen is 80 yrs old
the Senate was not designed for life-timers. New blood needed.

9. He shouldn't - Sestak supports strict gun-control laws just like Rendell does
That should be enough to melt any ice between them, don't you think? I know Rendell has not been happy with Bob Casey's take on gun laws.

10. Ed,
If Sestak vs. Toomey is a "at best a tossup"
http://www.pollster.com/polls/pa/10-pa-sen-ge-tvse.php

Then what was Specter vs. Toomey?

11. Sestak probably has a better chance then Specter would have.
He surged in the primary polls and is caught up to Toomey in one on one matchups.

You know, I didn't mind Obama endorsing Specter (he did switch parties and gave Obama some good votes). But Rendell is just an asshole. I have never liked him.
