It's not about sex, it's about HYPOCRICY. |
|
I really don't care about a person's private sexuality, if a person is gay, lesbian, kinky, super horny or asexual, I could care less about what a person does in private, to each his or her own.
But if a public official makes a lot of noise about morality and decency and then gets caught doing just the opposite, that's called sexual hypocricy, and that's what pisses me off. It's not getting caught in a affair and lying about it that angers folks, but making public statements about abstinence, aids prevention, condom use by teens, etc., a person who always makes statements about how religious he or she is is almost always hiding something.

If a pol is in an open marriage where both he and his wife agree that they are allowed to fool around with other people and are open about it, I have no problem. It's when they say one thing and do another that my grits get frosted.

3. It's Also About Accountability |
|
If our money or time was used for these purposes, then we should know who, what, where, when & why.
The hypocrisy is a point noted, but the bigger issue are the laws broken. No matter what we feel about the world's oldest profession...and we can and should have an adult and open discussion about making it safe & legal (it ain't going away)...this story must be kept in the focus that solicitation for sex is still a felony and those who partook in it did so knowingly breaking the law.
Now the question is about if a law was broken. I suspect the defense here will be that the Escort service was only about companionship and massages, not sex...and if any went on, that was "off the clock" and consentual. The court will determine where the line is crossed here...but in the process I'm sure the names of all involved will be entered into the public record.
Repugnicans are immune to being called hypocrites...since they're already so compromised. Ya think one more scandal is gonna make a difference?
Cheers...

5. Hypocrisy cuts both ways. |

I certainly agree with you regarding the hypocrisy of some Repubs in matters of private sexuality.
Similarly, Edwards can't be faulted for his house or his haircuts since rich guys routinely spend big bucks for both. But he can't be criticized for being hypocritical, if he is going to campaign as a "man of the people". And Gore, if he runs, can expect charges of "un-green" in certain aspects of his life style, even though they are no different than how most wealthy people live their lives.

The "Do as I say, not as I do" way of leading is hypocritical.

13. Neither spending to much, or being un-green are illegal |

If Al gore spends a little extra fuel going around the country speaking about energy, and even a small percentage of the people make a choice to do something as a result of his message, it's more than compensated for the energy he's used.
If Edwards spends his money how he chooses, and those choices make his life easier so that he can focus on being a better candidate, then it's money well spent.

12. Also, Like Spending Beyond Your Means |
|
The Rethugs are notorious -- notorious, I tell you -- for telling people to save their money, and to be thrifty.
But what do they do? What have they done?
They have spent our country into massive debt.
That's hypocrisy -- BIG TIME.
