I think it's when he ran for Congress in 1978. Anyone remember?

9. No, it just pointed out the media said nothing about idiot son's 'service',
which was full of lies. You're right, not that specific claim, but there were plenty of lies to go around.

It wasn’t disqualifying, instantly or otherwise, for George W. Bush. During his 2000 and 2004 campaigns, the press didn’t much care about Bush’s exaggerations and lies about his military record. And I don’t just mean the fact that all available evidence suggests that Bush failed to fulfill his commitment to the National Guard. Even if, for some reason, you choose to believe -- absent any evidence -- that Bush did fulfill that commitment, he exaggerated or lied about his service in other ways, like claiming to have served in the “Air Force” and claiming to have continued flying with his unit for “several years” after his pilot training.

2. I remember that he let a VFW
commander say that he flew the skies protecting our country during the Viet Nam War and agreed with him. It still might be on the net. But since Rove did just a job he probably found it and deleted it. He sent clerks into the NARA to steal papers about Bush's AWOL service in the Guard. The didn't get caught but the people at NARA suspected they were doing something wrong and denied them access the next time they came. I remember that.

3. Doubtful that such a claim could be documented.
If he had made that claim, somebody would have found it and brought it out in his run for the governorship or the presidency. I am not saying that it is above him to make such a lie, only that if he did we would have already found it.

6. "Documenting" is the key. The unofficial DU rule is that if there is no link, it never happened.
Actually, a YouTube video would be even better.

10. The rule can be frustrating at times, but it is a good rule.
Without it DU would be drowned in wild allegations.

5. Yes he did...
...On January 27, 2002, CNN.com / allpolitics.com / TIME carried the Associated Press headline "Bush compares raising twins to war."

"CHARLESTON, West Virginia (AP) -- President Bush says between going to war and raising twins, he'd choose war.

"Bush's visit to West Virginia last week included a chat with Bob Kiss, Democratic speaker of the West Virginia House of Delegates.

"While they hail from different parties, they found plenty to talk about -- although while both have twins, Kiss' 5-week-old twin boys aren't quite old enough to cause much trouble.

"Kiss told Bush that if he wasn't doing anything the next morning, he could come by for their 3 a.m. feeding. Kiss said Bush joked, 'I've been to war. I've raised twins. If I had a choice, I'd rather go to war.'"
