An observation: Once you have learned to hypermile riding with somone who doesn't is almost painful
I rode with someone else today for the first time in quite a while, I learned to hypermile when gas was $4.50 a gallon and I was stuck driving a monster SUV and the habits have stuck with me. In fact I've turned it into an ongoing contest with myself to see how high I can push the mpg meter without obviously obstructing traffic, I can actually double the mileage of at least one family member in the same vehicle.

It was uncomfortable feeling someone turn gasoline and money into brake pad dust and heat for no reason at all, I was really kind of surprised at how strong my reaction was. It felt very much like watching someone you care about burning a pile of dollar bills that they could better use for something more constructive.

When other drivers around me do it, it doesn't bother me but being in the car was quite different.

Help me, I'm turning into my mother.. :)

1. LOL. A common realization when one gets to a certain age...
looking in the mirror and hearing one's own voice become more and more reminiscent of one's Parent/s
Scary. It kind of sneaks up on you...

2. If your friends all jumped off a cliff would you do it too?
I'm a grandpa three times over now, I already know the feeling it just surprised me how strong it was on this particular subject..
