5. Well, the correct answer, of course, is "All of the Above". |
|
The first three are literally destroying the planet. The last two have made my life a living Hell through their erroneuous billing, false charges, and call center harassment (BoA in the 1990's, ScamCa$t currently) and WalMart has gutted how many small towns while flooding the market with cheap Chinese crap.

I actually can't pick a frontrunner. Each in its own way has done serious damage. I guess I'd like to throw our good friends at Halliburton into the mix.

8. Why is - All of the above - not listed? b/t |
|
I think that would be the best choice...how do you choose between the evil that all of these corporations perpetrate every day? They are all evil; just in different ways and when you add them together...well...I can't think of anything bad enough to say about that.

12. Certainly all of them...but as a gardener and seed saver, I have great hatred for Monsanto. |
|
Their vileness is beyond belief.
Then again, after Watching Food Inc., perhaps AMD and Cargill should be on the list for their insidious pushing of corn in all its forms into most everything most everyone consumes.
Or the Food industry in general for ensuring that unhealthy food is dirt cheap (and much more affordable than healthy fruits and veggies).

a mainstream chain food store is nearby, but nothing in the health or organic range, not even a TJ's or Whole Paycheck. This in the Bay Area, no less. :wtf:
edit: Being transit-dependent, I can't just flit over to the affluent side of town to shop well. :(

the worst are the one's that know how to keep their "secrets" secret.
To be sure, there are some pretty good corp's out there...but like the mafia or the Tong of yesteryear, they know to keep a low profile, all the while, doing what they do best, enhancing the riches of the already filthy rich.

|
Greediest would be the banksters like Goldman Sachs, of course.
The title for most evil entails a little more blood on the hands, such as Blackwater, XE, Halliburton. Also throw in BP and Monsanto in that category, for good measure. But, this list is not complete.

BP is just the latest ogre of the oil companies, but in all fairness, what happened was an accident, caused by the same shit any other company does, and responded to in the same way any company would. They're not especially evil, but it's a good expose on how sorporations work.
Monsanto, however, has as part of its stated charter, an agenda to control world food production, has patented genomes, forces its products on starving nations and then charges them out hte wazoo for it, and is, quite literally, just about as evil as evil can get, at least out of this list.

29. Floor Nomination: Commission on Presidential Debates Corporation |
|
Commission on Presidential Debates Corporation is a corrupt organization created by the republican and democratic parties to control debates and to exclude more worthy candidates. The Commission on Presidential Debates sells itself out to corporations which donate huge amounts of money to it. In exchange they get just more avenues to corrupt our political process and those who govern us. They also hand out prized tickets to presidential debates to corporate leaders, the true owners of our government and our country.
The Commission on Presidential Debates Corporation is a sign of the decay of this once great country. It has two leaders, both corporate prostitutes who grant the power to be heard to just those who have sold out to play the game. As I said, the CPD was created to exclude the peoples voices. We have a one party system in this country, with two slightly different flavors. But both of their flavors are toxic to the citizenry...

45. I'm not sure how to rank levels of evil . . . |
|
Monsanto is certainly evil, but are they any more evil than BP right now? . . . I think the real answer is that ALL huge, multinational corporations that have indefinite lifespans are inherently evil, simply because they never die (unlike real "persons") . . . they can therefore continue their evil doings indefinitely, building evil upon evil upon evil, with virtually no checks or balances . . .
what is needed is strict regulation of these behemoths, and limitations on what they can do . . . corporations should be prohibited, for example, from buying other companies outside the field they do business in . . . just for starters . . . and a limited lifespan would be a good idea, too . . .

46. Former bank employee, long-time financial services industry worker, voting for B of A |
|
Edited on Thu May-20-10 03:52 PM by slackmaster
Without hesitation.
I've dealt with them as a bank that charged me a fee to cash a check drawn on one of its own customer checking accounts, a bank that bought my bank, a lender that bought my lender, an employer that bought the employer of my spouse, as a major customer of my employer, and several other ways.
Right now they own my mortgage, and they refuse to release me from liability for a debt incurred by my ex-wife on a credit card that she got as a bank employee many years ago, and which I have never used, never even seen a statement for. Money that was all borrowed long after our divorce was final, and that I didn't even know about until last summer.
I am qualified to say that B of A sucks.
