California's in deep trouble: you get to choose between Whitman or this guy:

Steve Poizner, entrepreneur! Net worth about $1 billion!

Stephen Leo "Steve" Poizner is a California businessman and Republican politician, who was elected State Insurance Commissioner of California in 2006. Prior to his political career, Poizner worked in Silicon Valley as a high tech entrepreneur...White House fellow under george bush 2nd, National Security Council Office of Cyberspace Security, Life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Co-founder of California Charter Schools Association

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Poizner

and "teacher"!

See, after Steve made his billions, he decided he wanted to give back. So he volunteered as a teacher in a public school in San jose for a semester, a rough & tough gang-banging school in a deteriorating neighborhood where the residents led "sad lives".

At least that's what he wrote in his book, "Mount Pleasant: My Journey from Creating a Billion-Dollar Company to Teaching at a Struggling Public High School"

Which came out timed with his run for office, when he stressed his deep understanding of the problems of schools - since he'd been a teacher & all.

And how he knew the solution to these problems -- charter schools!!

Yeah, that's what he wrote in his book about his one-semester experience in this gang-banger school - but.....was it true?

Ira Glass investigated....

and found the average home price in the gangbanging neighborhood of sad lives when poizner taught there was $457,000.

Ira Glass:

"Driving around the neighborhood, it is hard to disagree with the teachers who say it's a perfectly nice middle class and working class area. Occasionally you'll see a house in bad shape, but overwhelmingly it's neatly tended yards, garages, decent cars and SUVs in the driveways. It's suburban. I was surprised to learn that when Poizner taught here in 2003 there was a golf course just a few blocks from the school --"

And how about all the crime Poizner talked about?

Ira Glass:

"So we went to the police, and they informed us that no, the neighborhood around Mt. Pleasant high school is NOT especially dangerous or crime ridden. It's average for San Jose..."

More lies follow...

You get to choose between two psychotic, lying billionaires.

These people don't think our lives are real. They don't think we're real. We're just the props for their fantasies about themselves & their ambition to control everything.

4. It will probably come down to Whitman and Brown in the General.
Poizner is running in the R primary here as the anti-prop 13 candidate (at least according to a radio ad I heard yesterday). That's the 3rd rail of CA politics. Plus he shot himself in the ass with his book. If he was hoping to peel off some sympathy votes from progressive pro-public education Dems to repeal Jarvis, he screwed it with his lies about Mt. Pleasant.
