So the Dog finally caught the bus...and now what? |
|
So the RWers like Scar and Pat B. and the rest of the horde finally got one of their Teabagger buddies onto a major ticket and guess what? This guy is a raging racist and worse underneath this controlled veneer of false intellect, false sophistication, false interest in the Law of the Land, false sincerity, and false interest in the masses.
His underlying sores are going to be exposed quickly and the picture is going to be quite ugly: he will attempt to paint himself as a man of the People, but in fact, and Joe and his ilk know this, he will be exposed in the fashion in which Senator Macaca was. This faction of the Republican Party will, IMO, drag them down in selected races, anger the masses who might well have stayed home, and will awaken the sleeping giant in a manner in which even Obama's candidacy did not. Reverting to pre-civil-rights era policies is not what the vast number of voting Americans are interested in doing: even if they don't particularly like integration, miscegenation, and the like, the oldsters certainly don't want to have to start fighting those battles and the young just aren't interested in this issue at all.
If we can promote the importance of this election, it is possible that we can do great damage to the Republicans and force them to excise these unreasonable folk from their leadership and get back to doing business in the manner in which we should be.

1. Between this, and Arizona |
|
not to mention what they are doing in Maine, I can actually start to dream about INCREASING seats in the senate.
My growing list of "strange" opportunities in November:
Florida: The whole Crist thing could blow up in everyone's face and leave and opening for a democrat.
Utah: Bennet could run independent, and split the fahooey out of the GOP.
Kentucky: Numbers and reality line up to suggest the democrats have a real opportunity there.
Arizona: Okay, I'm dreaming here, but man, it's gettin' ugly over there. Can you imagine that the right democrat could actually come off as the "reasonable peacemaker" in that state?
