My Congressional Rep (Marsha Blackburn) Sent me a link to a republican website called YouCut.
http://republicanwhip.house.gov/YouCut/It has a video from Eric Cantor asking for sugestions on cutting the budget. Here is what I submitted:
Cut the Defense department. We are currently engaged in two unnecessary wars and we spend more of our military affairs than nearly all other countries of the world combined. It is time to spend that money on our infrastructure and social programs for the unfortunate.
Corporate welfare is the next area that needs attention. BP and other oil companies receive billions in tax subsidies from the government and they are creating major pollution and wrecking local economies (see the gulf coast) with the disasters that they create. Plus they make many billions in profits each year. They do not need subsidies to compete. This principle applies to many other corporate interests such as heath insurance and drug companies. End corporate welfare now.
I followed up with a nice email to Marsha thanking her for the suggestion. I think we should post similar budget cutting suggestions to this site. They said that the ideas that get the most votes will have legislation proposed by them (the republicans).
It would be funny if my suggestion would get the most votes. Of course they would never follow up and actually propose cutting defense of corporate welfare even if that got the most votes.
Here is my email to Marsha:
Marsha,
Thanks so much for giving me a voice with the "You Cut" suggestion that you recently put in your newsletter. I have used it already. Here is the idea that I put forward. Please take it into consideration.

I think that if we attack just those two areas then we can reduce the budget by at least 25% and end deficit spending. What do you think?
Thanks so much,
