The saddest thing about Rand Paul of KY |
|
Is that he will probably be elected, not despite his views, but because of them. I know plenty of places in Southeastern KY where views on civil right make him look like a radical 60's lefty. What's more, it's the kind of year when morons win so long as they have an (R) next to their names. Evan Meecham was re-elected in AZ in 1994 despite all his legal trouble and OK voters elected Tom Coburn even after he admitted to sterilizing a woman without her consent. 2011 is going to be very interesting.

There are plenty of rednecks who will come out of the woodwork/woods and vote for him.

I live here and we (the state) have elected our quota of assholes, probably way more than our quota. R Paul is too ignorant of the state & he is a walking valium. Conway will retake this seat from the right.

4. I do not believe that will ever happen. |

Republicans, real Republicans will be forced to publicly either agree or disagree with those racist views and it will end their careers if they agree "Publicly" Just as David Duke was exercised from the Republican Party, so will this guy.. He will not EVER become a US Senator...Of that I am fairly certain.

5. Yep, a Bluedog Dem would look pretty good safely in that seat right now wouldn't he/she? |

Continue on with your purge of all them DINO's in these backwards ass states purists. That will really show Rahm how smart we are.

12. Kentucky won't produce many liberals. So you like people like Blanche Lincoln |
|
and think all Dems should get behind her in Arkansas? No challengers in primaries?

10. both of the pauls sound like Sarah Palin in pants to me. And talk about parsing. |
|
Rand paul could not answer Rachel Maddow's question to save his life. He just could not go off script. Heard Ron Paul say that the federal income tax should be repealed because it is unconstitutional but we should have a federal sales tax. Talk about putting the cost of government off onto the common people and allowing the rich people off the hook. It was not a constitutional question for him, he just wanted to give rich folks a permanent tax break.

11. And I live a hop, skip and a jump from southeastern Kentucky. |
|
I know many people who are changing their racial views as they realize people of color are in the same boat as they: poor because of low-paying, back-breaking jobs - if they can even find a job.
Funny how people 3,000 miles away seem to know more about my region of the country that those of us who live here do.

I was born and raised in Michigan and my mom was born and raised in SE Kentucky near the TN border. Ever hear the story of the mostly African American high school sports team whose bus was literally chased away by angry white people?

I never went to an integrated school until we moved to Kentucky in'67. KY was progressive compared to Georgia and South Carolina.

Social Security, Medicare, Food Stamps and Farm Subsidy. Paul wants to take all that away, once that is hammered home, he's going have a tough time.

if you look at the vote tallies, he came in 3rd behind the two dems.
the amount of repukes voting as opposed to the amount of dems was vastly different.
Kentuckians want change. It's pretty evident in the results.
bland paul certainly isn't that change.

Even though I think KY is a kooky place, I've had the opportunity to know liberals and conservatives from there, and I don't believe they support this kind of philosophy. We'll see, though...
