Rand Paul: Repubs worst fear comes true.
They really were prescient on this one.

Two-fold problem (well, actually more, but this one is the most obvious):
1) He said what he believes and made a philosophical-legal argument that is simply a loser--politically, legally, morally.
2) Now he backtracks and becomes an immediate political whore. Repub pols understand and respect their rhetorical whoredom and are comfortable with it. Rand supporters cannot accept any sense of whoredom from their leaders. One MUST be pure.

He ran against the prostitution of the modern repub party; now, within 24 hours, he is one. Repubs feared that he would be too pure, that he would sacrifice the repub. good (corporatism) at the altar of the good (originist constitutionalism). Ouch, looks like they were right. Sad man, thought he could beat that silly, emotive lesbian in a rational debate. It was ugly, and he had his ass handed to him (the worst humiliation of all).

I do hope dems. will keep coming back to this issue. It really is a no-loser: he either rejects the Civil Rights Act, or he looks like a political whore. Have fun. The thought that the dems may actually have a chance in this race is mind boggling. God bless the tea-baggiers.

9. That would make him a "Cafeteria Constitutionalist," wouldn't it?

Like they say about us "Cafeteria Catholics" - we pick and choose what we like from the whole spread. Sounds like that's what rand paul really wants. To be able to tweezer out the little bits of the Constitution of which he approves, and leave the rest.

6. The Faustian Bargain with the Dick Armey Tea Party
It's always helpful to remember that the Tea Party began as an invention of Dick Armey's grassroots for hire lobbying firm in DC. It took off as a tool to attack health reform with it's signature issue - "death panels." These are simply facts. For Paul to have accepted this weak movement built on a false premise was his ultimate undoing. That was "the tell" that showed he wouldn't survive this. There will be more unraveling but Senator Paul is not in the cards this time around.

7. So I guess he was named after Ayn Rand?
How long has he lived in KY? I took it for granted he lived in Texas.
