Get Ahead of the Curve, Obama -- Look at Other Agencies Too |
|
There are so many allegations of misconduct at the Department of the Interior relating to the BP situation that one could get caught up in it without seeing the bigger picture.
But the bigger picture is essential to understand for our future well-being. It would also make a great talking point:
Yes, the Interior Department situation is bad, but it is just one of many departments that were corrupted under the previous administration to serve the very industries they were intended to regulate for the benefit of the American people.
The Obama Administration, Democrats, and anyone who believes our government should belong to us, rather than a few giant corporations, should be doing everything they can to fix EVERY agency and every department NOW, before the next disaster.

Even if Obama was too personally busy handling the economic and military catastrophes he inherited, he could have appointed qualified secretaries to oversee the cleanup of their departments, but instead he hired corporate stooges.
He must have thought it was practical to hire corporate stooges to manage this country, I sure as hell hope he rethinks that ideology now.

But why is everyone so quick to absolve the CEO of any blame? I know that when 9/11 happened on Bush's watch, we were quick to defend Clinton when the repugs tried to blame everything on Clinton's intelligence team and Clinton holdovers. We can't have it both ways. Seriously people, our principles need to be a little higher than "Our guy good -- Your guy bad".

Tell me why Gitmo is still open, why we are lobbing drone missiles at innocents and have put an American citizen on a hit list. Tell me why Obama continues the failed policies of Bush/Cheney and royally effs up with this BP thing and gets a pass? Do you have any principle higher than "Dem good -- repug bad"? We rightly railed on Bush for what happened with Katrina and now nearly everyone wants to give Obama a Get Out of Jail Free card for BP? If our principles are so shallow, we will continue to be served crap on a platter and be told that it's pudding.

11. Bush chose to not respond to Katrina quickly because they were all |
|
about teaching America how not to feel empathy and they thought they could count on Americans to behave in that manner they had taught. They were wrong. Americans expected their government to act decisively in a crisis.
