A Bush endorsement in Connecticut GOP Senate contest
Edited on Thu May-20-10 07:25 PM by Ardent15
"Rob Simmons, the former congressman who is hoping to become the Republican Senate nominee in Connecticut, picked up a big name endorsement.

Jonathan Bush, the brother of former president George H.W. Bush and uncle of former president George W. Bush, is backing Simmons "to fill a seat once held by my father."

That's a reference to the originator of the Bush political dynasty, Prescott Bush, a Republican who represented the Nutmeg State in the Senate from 1952-1963.

In a letter that's being ballyhooed by the Simmons campaign, Bush calls the former congressman "an economic and national security conservative" and then takes a shot at the presumed Democratic Senate nominee in the race.

"He doesn't need to embellish his service record," Bush writes of Simmons, a veteran of the Army and the CIA, "and will stand in stark contrast to Richard Blumenthal." Blumenthal, the Connecticut attorney general, this week has been answering charges that he falsely claimed to have served in Vietnam.

Both the Democratic and Republican parties in Connecticut are holding conventions this weekend to select their Senate nominees. Simmons has some tough competition within the GOP. His leading rivals include former World Wrestling exec Linda McMahon and financier Peter Schiff.

The candidates are all vying to replace retiring Sen. Chris Dodd, a Democrat."

For those who don't know the full BFEE, Jonathan is the father of Billy Bush, host of "Access Hollywood", and Jonathan S. Bush, CEO of athenahealth. He was also an executive at a bank that laundered money to the Saudis-and through them, to the 9/11 hijackers. Source: http://www.democrats.com/node/2678

1. Setting aside the fact that most people, even Republicans, don't like GWB...
...why would a Bush brother that nobody's heard of have any clout whatsoever?

2. Isn't this the guy called Uncle bucky the one who had the
bankrupt armor company. The one that went to multi-million after cheney's white house gave him that contract. A company that was under investigation for making shoddy armor. Then he sold the company for millions. Good business practice or fraud.

3. Wasn't Doro available?
That's sort of scraping the barrel for "Bush" endorsements, isn't it?
