Eliot Spitzer being considered for CNN anchor job
As CNN scrambles to replace Campbell Brown on its wounded prime-time lineup, the most intriguing name purportedly on the channel’s list is that of Eliot Spitzer, the disgraced former governor of New York.

Mr. Spitzer has held conversations — but so far only informal ones — about becoming a regular contributor to the cable news channel, according to two people who were briefed on the matter. But the people said he was not being courted for an anchor job, meaning he would not directly replace Ms. Brown at 8 p.m.

Rumors of Mr. Spitzer’s hiring set off widespread speculation inside CNN this week, and even made it into David Letterman’s monologue Tuesday night. His punch line: “That would be a switch — somebody paying him for an hour.”

Not even too sure her husband watched her.
I tried 3 or 4 times and it sucked big time.

4. Ironic, isn't it? He used his own money to pay for a prostitute
and his political career was ruined.

But we have war criminals and torturers still running around, many of them still capable of running for office.

Some day in the far distant future, this country might gets its priorities in order.

I never watched Campbell Brown, but I would definitely watch Eliott Spitzer.

9. Further Irony, Spitzer(Dem) Vitter( Call Girl DC) Prostitute in Louisanna
and Ensign never had to leave office. The "Librul" Media
still make snide remarks about Spitzer. Very little was
ever said about Vitter and Ensign. They were never given
the breathless finger pointing treatment Spitzer received.
Of course, they Republicans, I forgot.

18. For me
the problem wasn't his "sex crime" it was his hypocrisy. He made quite a name for himself in NY busting sex workers.

19. He made a very bad decision, true

Otoh, breaking up sex rings was part of his job. Who knows how he actually felt about the law? He wasn't running a sex ring or a brothel. He went to a prostitute.

Otoh, as already mentioned above, the Family Values Republicans, Vitter and Craig, are still in Congress. That is beyond hypocrisy and I don't understand why there are different rules for different people.

Edited to add that hypocrisy is rampant in DC especially among the Family Values crowd, the latest being this Republican http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8378737 I am sure this was not a secret either.

In the above case (Souder) someone snitched on him apparently so he had no choice but to step down especially knowing there was a damaging video out there, and the above interview going back 12 years. There are probably other women too so he had no choice. But until he was caught, he did not step down.

In Spitzer's case, someone reported him also. I wonder how many are not reported?

24. I don't think it was part of his job as Governor
to have engaged in this act of prostitution. As I recall, Spitzer seemed to go after sex workers with great glee.

Yes, there are Repuke hypocrites. I'd be happy to see only Repuke hypocrites, being in our party actually means something to me, and I would hope it would to our officeholders.

I'm sure there are quite a few who don't get reported. The best way to avoid being reported is not to do it.

20. And then there is Sanford in S.C., Ensign from Nevada, Vitter,
and the list goes on and on. Democrats have to live up to a higher standard than Republicans. Very strange. Republicans are in denial about this reality.

I like Eliot Spitzer. I hope that is family life is going better.

Something happens to men in their 50s -- by no means all of them, but many of them. They just seem to go through something nutty. They are lucky if they don't ruin their whole lives in their 50s. Very sad.

5. He's a pretty interesting guy......
But he would do best on radio.

But of course, CNN was never known for hiring attractive folks,
so I guess it's alright!

He resigned --- but GOP politicos who did the same thing shed a tear and go on.

with a sinking ship like that POS CNN?

Big mistake on Spitzer's part, IMO.

15. i never figured out what the appeal of campbell brown was.
Edited on Thu May-20-10 09:40 PM by unabelladonna
her show was a borefest...she was more suited for a morning/magazine show and her voice was like chalk on a blackboard....a complete zero.
i think eliot spitzer would be a great choice, he really tried to clean up wall street which lead me to believe he had a bullseye painted on his back.

21. Maybe it had to do with her husband. Several of these women
anchors seemed to fall for rightwingers, in her case she married him. Like Greenspan's wife. Sorry but I can't take seriously 'news' being dissemintated to me from people who are so close to government.
