If my asshole dad had named me after Ayn Rand, I woulda spent my life proving that was NOT who I was |
|
In the case of Rand Paul, he's showing that he's not a self-made man. He's daddy's little social experiment.
Like a little programmed robot.
Can you imagine the life lessons learned growing up in that house?
"Daddy, can I have some Ice Cream?"
"No, son. That fudge ripple was purchased with capital gained through my hard work. If I were to give you some, it would represent a handout to a 'moocher' who is providing nothing of value in return. If you want some ice cream, you'll have to earn the capital to buy it yourself. Go mow the lawn."
"But daddy, I'm three years old."
"This house ain't a nanny-state, son. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps. And stay the fuck away from my ice cream. No son of mine is going to be a moocher of his old man's wealth."

5. 99% of people named Randal go by "Randy" or "Randal".... The "Rand" short form is intentional |
|
He's a self-professed Randian libertarian.

18. Yes, from my little knowledge of right wing libertarians and John Birchers ... |

which is far more than I'd like to have been exposed to within my formative years, Ron Paul would not lower himself to name a son after *a girl.* :wow: ;)
Seriously, women are second class citizens within old school right wing libertarian families.

7. But that would mean he's just playing on the "Rand" name in order to get support |
|
from the idiots who worship that fascist dead lunatic.
That's actually worse than his daddy naming him after her.

People like that give up power by assuming someone else can chose where and what they are.
Someone tells me what is or is not, BS, not accepting it if it can not be argued, cause then it is not justice, and if it is not of justice it is not Daddy. So if someone says I can not have something, I simply point out it is not theirs to give. And I might already have it.

Since he wears the name willingly, I have no problem dubbing him Ayn Rand Paul...

I don't like the guy, don't like Ayn Rand, hate libertarianism, but I will defend facts no matter what about no matter whom.

11. OK, so maybe he's not named after Ayn Rand, but for what it's worth.... |
|
...most men named "Randolph" or "Randall" use a "Y" when using the the diminutive, making it "Randy". It is interesting that he made a conscious choice to drop the "Y", OR perhaps his family chose to call him "Rand" instead of "Randall" or "Randy" as he was growing up.

He erroneously believes that he's talking with a bunch of like-minded right wingers whenever he opens his mouth.
If anything *Rand* needs a finishing school.
