Daddy Ron rushes to defense of Ayn Rand Paul, whines "It's unfair!"
Rep. Ron Paul defended his son on Thursday, insisting that the controversy over Rand Paul's civil rights beliefs were "overkill" and "unfair."

The elder Paul, a Republican from Texas and former presidential candidate, said his son, the Kentucky GOP Senate nominee, is being asked questions that are irrelevant to the campaign by interviewers with a partisan agenda.

"It's contrived because he's done so well," Ron Paul said outside the House chamber Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday night, Rand Paul dodged questions from liberal MSNBC host Rachel Maddow about whether he believes the Civil Rights Act of 1964 should not have given the federal government power to enforce the integration of lunch counters and other privately owned businesses.

1. When a person runs for office
they are asking people to hire them (vote)
If a person has a concern whether that person
can do they job, the only way to find out is to ask questions.
So any question is fair game.

I find it interesting that daddy has to come out and protect
little rand from the big bad woman. Fascinating

2. Ron Paul quotes on race
If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be." - Ron Paul, 1992

"Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the `criminal justice system,' I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal." - Ron Paul, 1992

"We don't think a child of 13 should be held responsible as a man of 23. That's true for most people, but black males age 13 who have been raised on the streets and who have joined criminal gangs are as big, strong, tough, scary and culpable as any adult and should be treated as such." - Ron Paul, 1992

"What else do we need to know about the political establishment than that it refuses to discuss the crimes that terrify Americans on grounds that doing so is racist? Why isn't that true of complex embezzling, which is 100 percent white and Asian?" - Ron Paul, 1992

8. Sorry Dad, but Rachel's questions were not that tough. Asking about
civil rights is always fair game and watching sonny boy looking for the right phrasing was priceless. The "I would never do that", but supporting the rights of everyone else to discriminate (privately, of course) was a "macaca" moment.

13. Rachel Gave Him Ample Time and Rope...
The most excruciating thing about watching that interview is you could see Rachel was giving Paulbot Jr. the chance to walk back...to think about what he was way and stop before jumping off the abyss. He just couldn't do it. The body language showed he wasn't just uncomfortable with the questioning but also like someone who had far more underneath. What was most jarring was you could feel his views are ingrained with little understanding...programmed into him to such an extent that he couldn't see where he was walking. In his defense, many on the right feel the same way...they've lived in their echo chambers for so long that when they step outside they're oblivious to how racist or bigotted they sound.

What's bothering the Paulbots is not the questions but the attention. The Paulbot myth works best when its leaders are seen as being "picked on"...turning the attention from substance to personality.

What will be interesting to watch is the cobra & mongoose games played between Paul and the "regular" rushpublicans. Is some of the scrutiny here an attempt to make him toxic that he is pushed out of the race? I don't see it happening, but all the attention here and little real defense from "regular" rushpublicans is very interesting indeed.

14. He's right - they should ask his opponent the same questions - see how he likes it...
I'm sure he will like it just fine - because he will have a sane rational response
