Whoa! Rand Paul Was The Featured Speaker At Theocratic Constitution Party 2009 Rally
In a pinch, all you really need to know about Christian Reconstructionism is in the title of a January 2008 Talk To Action story of mine, More From The Biblical Stoning & Legalized Slavery Movement. Enter Ran Paul.
Amidst the hullaballoo over Republican Ran Paul's upset victory in the Kentucky GOP primary for US Senate, one of the few journalists to raise the issue of Paul's somewhat uncomfortable proximity to Christian Reconstructionism has been Alternet's Adele Stan, who observes that Rand Paul's father Ron Paul is personal friends with one of the bigger names in the Christian Reconstructionist movement, Howard Phillips, founder of the US Taxpayers Party - now re-branded as The Constitution Party. But there's much more direct evidence tying Ran Paul to the Constitution Party, whose national platform declares,

""The goal of the Constitution Party is to restore American jurisprudence to its Biblical foundations...
The U.S. Constitution established a Republic rooted in Biblical law"

As Adele Stan notes, Phillips gave a keynote address at the Ron Paul For President Convention in Minneapolis a year and a half ago. And, Ron Paul endorsed the 2008 Constitution Party's presidential candidate in the 2008 election, Chuck Baldwin.

There's much more about this and the other loony beliefs he is tied to: http://www.talk2action.org/story/2010/5/20/175036/669/Front_Page/Rand_Paul_Was_The_Featured_Speaker_At_Theocratic_Constitution_Party_2009_Rally

Whooooo! I didn't realize he was tied to the 'back to the Bible laws' movement. He's also connected to Rousas Rushdoony who advocated executing homosexuals by stoning, wanted to reimpose the institution of slavery, and maintained that the Earth rotated around the Sun.

Galileo is spinning!

3. Rand Paul's mind must be an exceptionally "big tent".
And mostly full of air.

10. It just demonstrates that Rand has not concept of what a "theocracy" is!
Does he even understand that Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Israel are theocracies?

8. The theocrats are evangelicals so...
...they're evangelizing the Libertarian Teabaggers. It's simple, really.

5. That's Dominionism. Dominionism and Libertarianism should be mutually exclusive
His brain must not function properly.

7. How can this moran be a libertarian and "rah rah" for maximum personal liberty
if he wants to shove this kind of personal interpretation of the Constitution done every person's throat?

I've read that he opposes same sex marriages and abortions - how the f does he square those beliefs with his alleged libertarian "ideals" of maximum personal freedom?

Guy is a total fake, not some principled libertarian. And from what little I've seen in the last couple of days, he is as comfortable with lying as Sarah Palin.

9. Libertarianism and Theocracy are not in contradiction.
Christian libertarians hold that all should be free to do whatever is allowed by the Biblical law, but submit yourself to the authority of God. They talk about happily becoming God's bond-servants (kind of like a slave). They want Theocracy under a Christian God, and freedom from the government.
