Leahy: "I have several more subpoenas I will issue if we don't get cooperation."

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) chairs the Judiciary Committee. He says he'll issue as many subpoenas as it takes to get to the bottom of alleged White House involvement in the U.S. Attorney firings. "I just issued another subpoena," he said Sunday, before boarding a plane for the nation's capital. "this one for Karl Rove's emails that were turned over to the Department of Justice. I have several more subpoenas I will issue if we don't get cooperation."

Leahy says key Republicans on the Judiciary Committee agree with him, adding weight to his demand that the administration testify on the record.

3. Stop talking and start serving subpoena's already.
Can't we just admit that Bush-co is going to stall and drag it's feet all the way through these investigations? Stop being Mr Niceguy and stop warning these people. Just assume they are going to do everything they can to delay the investigation and hit them with subpoenas right off the bat instead of requests.

6. The more warnings, the more refused voluntary testamony, the
stronger the case for contempt of congress.

5. Unfortunately . . .
Unfortunately, the body charged with enforcing congressional subpoenas, even subpoenas of the Justice Department, is the office of the Attorney General. Will Gonzales frog-march himself out of his office, do you think?

7. When the Sheriff is the most corrupt cop, the whole county goes to hell...
I'm reminded of Mexico City and the Districto Federal, when the President's friend and school chum, Negro Durazzo, was Chief of Police and ran all the rackets. When the top cop is a crook, how do you get justice? SIMPLE. You have to get rid of the top cop AND his buddy who put him there.
