Naples Pizza: Coffin Wood Allegations Surface
Source: The Huffington Post

An unusual ingredient could be part of the baking process for Naples pizza: coffin wood.

The claim was reported by the Italian daily newspaper Il Giornale, owned by the family of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

"Pizza, one of the few symbols of Naples that endures... is hit by the concrete suspicion that it could be baked with wood from coffins," Il Giornale said. "Not only the pizza, the bread, too, may have been cooked with the wood."

Police are currently investigating.

In a related story, Dick and Liz Cheney are moving to Naples.

12. Just a satirical reference to how Sicilians take "no prisoners" and
if there's coffin wood in Neopolitan pizza, then imagine what's used for Sicilian pizza.

15. I know this story is BS because the paper is owned by the Italian Rupert Murdoch named Berlusconi.
I suggest the people of Napoli grab whatever objects they can find and just hurl them at this scumbag next time he makes a visit. And besides, isn't Berlusconi from Milan? Home to the most bland food in all of Italy?

16. "Pizza Napoli: It's to Die For!"
Sounds bogus to me - how much coffin wood could there actually be, and why would pizza makers go to such lengths for a 'specialty' method that they could never boast about?
