Bernie Sanders (on Brunch With Bernie/Thom Hartmann) said that Salazar has |
|
actually done a lot - under the Obama administration - to further our move toward alternative energy.
I'm not patting Salazar on the shoulder because this has been at Obama's direction, and I don't think it absolves him from being a slime, but it was good to know that progress is being made in that area.
And Bernie, like us, wishes it was moving more quickly, but there you have it.

1. Thanks for trying, Bernie, but we Coloradans know Salazar is corrupt. |
|
Those of us who worked for Mike Miles and saw this close up aren't gonna put lipstick on *that* pig.

2. That's been my assessment of him, too, and the only reason we're even looking |
|
at other options is because it's his j.o.b. I was just pleased to learn that they ARE addressing this (I thought we were getting mostly lip service). I've no doubt we'd move forward much more quickly if somebody else was in that slot. I really want Salazar GONE, and Bernie was pretty stern with him the other day so I was kind of surprised to hear that -- but Bernie will give credit where credit is due.

18. Better to have him out of the Senate? |
|
That is what I first thought when he accepted the job. It's harder for him to be corrupt now.

5. I have a tremendous respect for Bernie (which should go without saying, but we need to acknowledge |
|
people every chance we get), but either he is really naive about Salazar, or wanting to cut him some slack because he is a "First", or..... indeed, he is working with the devil.
Its times like this I really can't imagine just how much one has to be a pretzel to be a politician.
I love ya, Bernie... but we Coloradans didn't just fall off the proverbial turnip truck.

7. I don't think Bernie is being naive about Salazar, I think he knows just how terrible |
|
he is (I think Bernie grilled him rather soundly the other day), but I identify with him in feeling compelled to acknowledge someone's good efforts even if I hate the person. And I didn't mean to imply that Bernie was trying to defend Salazar, merely pointing out that he has done SOME positive things.
I think Bernie would be as thrilled to see Salazar ousted as we would be.

17. I didn't hear him "grill" Salazar, so I don't know about that part, and will take your word on that. |
|
I'm guessing Bernie also has a line he has to walk.
I could never play that game, but I have to say that Bernie does a fine job of staying in the good graces of the party (of which he isn't a member) and yet speaking up when it is necessary.

19. It was a hearing and Bernie wasn't letting Salazar slither away from the questions, |
|
it felt good to watch.
You're right -- they all probably have to walk that line, they ARE in politics and it is so much a game. But I'm grateful for the Bernies, the Weiners, the Graysons, etc. They let us know they DO remember we're out here counting on them.

24. You named the three I have respect for. HOWEVER, NONE of them |
|
are taking poverty seriously.
All three of themm are still talking away about the "middle class" ---the rest of us can hurl ourselves off a cliff.
As I said on the thread about Grayson's "The war is making you poor" bill, for years now, "progresssives" have sworn to me that I am being denied housing, etc., because of the money going to the wars. I doubted that---mainly because I don't see "progressives" serious about the issues of poverty.
His bill proved it to me.... it was all about giving money back... those of us without housing, without so many of life's necessities just don't matter.
SO.... I want everyone to be honest... we are without housing NOt because of the wars, but because it isn't important to most of you.
And that includes those three.
I can't even begin to tell you how bad it feels to be ignored, and to know that we are not important anywhere.

4. Salazar is an arrogant prick. I met with him 3 times while he was Senator. |
|
Could not get a word in edgewise what I was there to lobby for. He wanted to dominate my time and leave! Fake farmer/phony cowboy hat wearing corporate cocksucker!
He was also the gang of 7 with Joe Liebermoobs. You know, the ones who "protected the filibuster" from the nuclear option, which would've made our jobs so much easier now that we took over? But NOOOOO! The Repugs still control everything with it still in place!

6. I agree, and this post wasn't to state that Salazar is a good guy after all - he isn't! |
|
Just that in SPITE of him at the helm, we ARE making some progress in the right direction. We need to jettison Salazar and get someone in there who isn't in bed with the oil companies (and who knows who else?).

Touchdown. Thanks for the first hand knowledge, I remember that 'gang' they formed, anything to stop things from getting too far to the middle, keep it as far right as possible. I was really surprised that Obama picked him but looking back these are the people that Obama really did agree with, it was the first sign of what was to come. Because of that I don't know if he should be replaced, it could be even worse.

11. Tell us how you *really* feel! ^_^ |
|
Seriously, you are so right, and we could add a few more indictments to your list.
As I said, I was working on Mike Miles' campaign, and we saw the dirty shit that Salazar played, and how the corrupt Dem party in Colorado pushed him up front, in spite of the wishes of the people. (Same as was done with Specter, but the people in PA got wiser, and didn't go for that shit!)
We knew before he ever got in office what he was, so nothing that you report comes as a surprise.
I think it really must be said... he gets support in part because he is a "first" for Latinos. So many Latinos think the Salazar brothers are wonderful, just because. That makes everything else really stink. There are really good and honest Latino politicians, and I hope that they can find a way to replace this weasel... no disrespect to weasels.

14. I worked on Miles' campaign as well. |
|
I reluctantly walked neighborhoods for Kerry with an "Oh' yeah! Vote for Ken Salazar too!", but it was only because Pete Coors was a bigger corporate whore.
I remember putting all those Miles stickers on the M&M packets!

15. I had forgotten about the M&Ms. ^_^ That really was a touch of brilliance, |
|
although, if you think about it, voting for someone because they gave you a small package of M&Ms is pretty sad.
What's even sadder, though, is that after the campaign, I found I had been sold out by Miles, t0o. He had refused to take a stand on poverty, and even left "Poverty" blank on a form on the 'net. Had I known that, I would have not put my time and precious little energy into his campaign. Just like Kucinich. I ripped both stickers off my car.... I am a total cynic now, and only working on the issue of poverty. The politicians can fend for themselves. It hurts to be taken like that, and I don't intend to be hurt that way ever again.

come marching in, looking for blood.
We aren't dumb... we see the writing on the wall, and how this whole thing is not soley the fault of the RW.... we were SOLD OUT.
