1. I don't know what else people would have Obama do |
|
Just how does Obama "take the keys away" from BP? BP needs to pay for the cleanup and take a big part in the cleanup coordination. After all, it's their mess.

But it is now OUR mess. BP can't be trusted to do the right thing. Doing the same over and over and expecting different results is insane.
And, does the Navy call BP whenever they have a problem underwater?

10. Does 'involved' mean in charge? |
|
Hire experts to get the job done and send BP the bill. I'd call paying the bill 'involved.' :)

12. I don't want them "in charge" because they've proven reckless and incompetent. |
|
That said, the solutions to stopping the gush seem to be industry-designed and industry-owned, and BP and the other co's involved know that well setup better than anyone in the government. Plus, the continuing leak is NOT helping them and NOT saving them any money, so I do believe that they want to stop it, they're just not capable yet (contrary to those who think they're just hesitant to plug up the well). That's why I hesitate to jump onboard the "remove BP" bandwagon--unfortunately, we still need their input and equipment and expertise, such as it is. But I would love to see them go under, after all is said and done, as an example to all the other oil co's of what can happen when you royally fuck up like this. Exxon should not be here and profitable today, IMO.

2. What does the government know how to do? |
|
Are they as knowledgable as someone who works in the business? How is our government going to cap that well? How much blowout experience to they have? WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T SOMEONE HAVE A PLAN FOR THIS TO BEGIN WITH??? THERE is where our government failed us.
What Obama needs to do with the keys is to take them away from any future trips down this destructive road and keep them away for FUCKING EVER. That these oil scum assholes were ever allowed to do this is what is so completely fucked up.
Oh, I'm just so furious.

And in time, all the coastline from Texas to New York.

6. Isn't poisoning our waterways considered a national emergency? |
|
Seems the President could do a lot if he wanted to. If he couldn't figure it out, he has many really smart people around him that could. I don't know about the Gulf Coast/Keys areas, but some areas on the Atlantic coast have desalination plants for municipal water. If that crap gets into them, what happens to those communities?

8. I think someone from this administration needs to |
|
be in the room with BP ALL the time.
We need to monitor the situation first hand... to be there as decisions are made. Then we have to monitor all actions every step of the way.
We can NOT trust them to do the right thing. We can NOT trust them to do anything right. We can't trust in their judgment and commitment to clean it up properly.
Example: the decision as to which dispersant would be used. This is the type of thing that BP should've known better than to use. They probably knew better, but being cheap and cutting corners is SOP. We can't trust them to do what is right or best. They need constant monitoring. Someone should have stopped them from using that shit stuff.
