John Edwards can fix what ails us
John Edwards can fix what ails us
May 6, 2007
DesMoinesRegister.com letters

Recently, several of the Democratic candidates for president attended the Polk County Democrats' spring picnic. John Edwards was the most impressive candidate because of his detailed discussion of the critical issues facing our country, including specific plans to improve health care, the environment, economic opportunities and to finally deal with the mess created in Iraq.

He spoke with passion about both our needs here and the issues facing the world, including genocide. Edwards reminded us that domestic policy and international policy are no longer separate in the 21st century; what we do in foreign lands affects us at home as much as what we do at home shows the world our real values.

His commitment to serve and his courage to discuss new ideas and solutions - in detail - will be factors in returning Iowa's electoral votes to the Democratic Party as he wins the presidency in 2008.

While the other party and the media are preoccupied with trivia in an attempt to distract everyone from the disasters they either created or allowed, John Edwards continues to push for real change, for real solutions to start building a better tomorrow today.

- Thomas G. Fisher Jr.,

4. You make me think - I am still not decided - thank you!
There are issue's with Hillary's involvement with India millionaire's and Obama's naivete. I am still not decided and won't be until I see the plan given by each. Edward's seems to have a head start on this! Thank you for the post! We all must take a good look at them all and make the best choice. We have to play catch up to this arrogant administration that has sold America down the river to China and other groups like Halliburtant and drug companies that could care less about our future or the future or our children! :grouphug:

6. You might find this useful
I did an assessment of the views and plans of the candidates on the issue of poverty, as best I could determine from reviewing their web sites:

I haven't decided for sure yet, though I'm leaning towards Edwards because of the issues I discuss in the above post. However, I am concerned about his vote on the IWR, especially since he was on the intelligence committee and I believe he should have known how flimsy the evidence was. I would really like to here what he has to say about that.

5. I like John Edwards, but I don't think anyone can fix what ails us.
It's going to take decades to repair the damage.

7. John Edwards ....
Speaks about the issues that are near and dear to my heart. He is the candidate (out of a field of really good candidates) that most closely represents my values ...and I am a strong VALUES voter.
