Florida woman, angered over botched Wendy's drive-through order, tries to tase employee
Drive-Thru Taser Incident At Wendy's

Cops: Armed with stun gun, woman chased worker over botched order

MAY 17--Angered that drive-thru workers at a Wendy's botched her order, a Florida woman stormed the Daytona Beach restaurant this morning and tried to tase an employee with a stun gun. Melanese Reid, 20, reportedly became enraged after fast food workers failed to provide her with the requisite number of mustard and mayonnaise packets. After Reid and Katrina Bryant, 23, argued with drive-thru employee Jason Hill (and called him "bitch" and "faggot") Hill "told them that they were childish and to leave," according to a charging affidavit prepared by cops. Reid then attempted to slap Hill, but the worker was able to deflect her hand. At that point, witnesses told cops, Reid and Bryant exited their red PT Cruiser and entered the Wendy's. While inside, Reid, armed with a pink Cheetah brand stun gun, chased Hill "around the kitchen/employee area of the restaurant with the Taser turned on and making the 'electric' noises." For her part, Bryant "cheered on" while continuing the previous argument using "profane and discriminatory language." After Hill escaped, the women fled when a Wendy's manager announced that she was calling police. Reid and Bryant were arrested early this afternoon and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony. The stun gun was recovered from one of the women's purses. While Reid denied ever going inside Wendy's, Bryant contradicted her pal's claim. Bryant told cops that after Hill released Reid's hand at the drive-thru window, Reid entered the restaurant and threatened the worker with the handheld stun gun. Reid (left) and Bryant are pictured below in mug shots taken today by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

3. funny, if a civilian uses a taser, it's felony assault with a deadly weapon
but when a cop uses one, it's non-lethal force.

11. LOLZ
Sometimes this place amazes me.

You only get tased if you ask for it. I do not know ANYONE that has ever been tased by a cop and I ran around with the Dead\Phish for many years and there are some serious anti-authority assholes in that crowd.

You are comparing apples with Elephants...

6. "Assault with a deadly weapon"?
But it's just a stun gun. Non-lethal. Or so we've been told by the police departments wielding them all over the country. And now they want to bring criminal charges against these women? For what? Here in the Land of the High Church of Redemptive Violence, we solve problems with violence, whether we've been attacked, or we're just really, really scared, or because we had kind of a bad day, violence is the All American remedy for what ails you.

I'm not as up on High Church liturgy as I probably should be. Maybe there's a condiment exception? Like, maybe, shorting someone on ketchup is an offense worthy of opening a can of holy whoop-ass, but mustard or mayonnaise isn't.

8. I think somebody's a little low on something besides mustard and mayonnaise.
This is how some people respond when they don't get enough condiments with their order?

Somebody's been watching too many episodes of "24."

12. Those of us who have worked (or currently work) directly with 'right-off-the-street' public
deal with variations of this kind of violent, crazy behavior *all the time*. The Wendy's staff has my sympathies.

13. This us why they were discussing drive-thru etiquette on the local radio a few weeks ago.
It's been a hot topic for debate lately. Their rules are: no special requests, and check your god damn order! That prevents shit like this from happening!

18. The sick part of the whole thing is,
if Mr. Hill, who was being threatened by a woman with a stun gun, would have reached out and attempted to remove the stun gun from her hand, he would have been fired on the spot.
