Why is this death being blamed on a Census Worker?

What am I missing here? Woman comes to door brandishing shotgun, ignores police, they shoot her dead...Census worker was there at 5pm...not late at night that some are claiming..

2. The death isn't being blamed on a census worker.
I see no indication in the stories linked here that it is. The one from the TV station has a poorly written lead that makes it sound like the cops had a confrontation with the census worker, but that's obviously not true.

What appears to have happened, from the story, is that the census worker was threatened with a gun when visiting the residence about 5 p.m. The census worker most likely reported this to his or her supervisor, who reported it to the police.

The police then attempted to visit the residence, later that night, around 9 p.m. They too were met by a woman and a man brandishing guns. The police then fired in self-defense, killing the woman, and arrested the man. The incident is now being looked into further, as routinely happens when someone is killed by a police officer.

By the time the killing happened, however, the census worker was no longer around. It sounds like the census worker did the right thing. These people would seem to be dangerous if they were routinely answering their door with guns drawn. Anyway, I would hope the local law enforcement would be able to provide a complete story in the long run.

who is pushing the old...our rights are being trampled on crap...Don't point a gun at cops and expect to not get shot - but he's blaming the census worker..

3. It's simple: senseless workers are blaming a Census worker.

5. She was stupid and tragic.

Not the first, and not the last.

According to reports, police gave her a chance to put the shotgun down.
