Seriesly!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BP_Pedestrian_Bridge

The BP Pedestrian Bridge, or simply BP Bridge, is a girder footbridge in the Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois, United States. It spans Columbus Drive to connect Daley Bicentennial Plaza with Millennium Park, both parts of the larger Grant Park....

Named for energy firm BP, which donated $5 million toward its construction, it is the first Gehry-designed bridge to have been completed..

Okay, everybody gather up all your used motor oil and head on down there. Then when I give the signal... well, you know what to do.

1. Under the Daley plan, all public assets in Chicago are for sale to the highest bidder.....

2. I've never heard it called the BP Bridge. Everyone calls it the Gehry bridge.
And as much as I hate BP (we haven't bought their gas for years, because of the mercury and other toxins they have dumped into Lake Michigan), I would never advocate pouring oil on that architectural gem. So they gave $5 million to build it: that's $5 million out of their pockets and a beautiful world-class bridge for the citizens of Chicago.

Mayor Daley sells names all over the place (unless you're Fred Hampton), but nobody ever knows or uses those names.

4. Well, I can certainly see not wanting to foul an architectural gem with oil
like, oh, I dunno, the Gulf of Mexico.

6. True, but how will pouring oil over a bridge help stop that travesty?
Remember what your mama taught you: two wrongs don't make a right. A solution is called for: that kind of street theater will do nothing to stop the horrendous leak that has become an environmental disaster.

3. Yeah, and just TRY calling the Sears Tower "Willis Tower"
You'll be laughed out of Chicago.

5. And BP Is A Large Donor To The Chicago Symphony
They have major headquarters in Naperville...took over the old Standard Oil of Indiana. They're one of the largest donors to museums and public organizations.

Millenium Park was a money pit...better a corporate paid for it than soaking the already soaked local taxpayers.

That said...I like your idea...
