Pentagon regarding Kansas: other states were supposed to help provide resources in an emergency

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N07358305.htm

<snip>

A Pentagon spokesman in Washington said other states were supposed to help provide resources in an emergency. White House spokesman Tony Snow said the administration was doing what it could and equipment would arrive if it was needed.

Kansas Emergency Management spokeswoman Sharon Watson said because of the shortage of National Guard equipment, the state was rushing to hire contractors to help clear debris.

Nearly 70 Kansas National Guard troops were arriving in Greensburg on Monday to supplement about 40 troops already on the ground, and some guard Humvees were available to start clearing wreckage, Watson said.

Sebelius said the failure by Washington to replace or return state National Guard equipment deployed to Iraq was "not a very satisfying effort."

3. Irrelevant
the Kansas National Guard is shot to hell because bush is a liar. Is the Kansas National Guard available if there is any emergency in Oklahoma or Nebraska? And the penultimate question, does anyone in the bush administration give a flying dog fuck one way or the other?

4. hey, it's great for business!
Kansas Emergency Management spokeswoman Sharon Watson said because of the shortage of National Guard equipment, the state was rushing to hire contractors to help clear debris.

I know that Kansas has no choice in this matter, but one wonders if this isn't part of the GOP playbook to make their cronies even richer - deploy the Guard and their equipment so states are forced to use private contractor$ in the event of a natural disaster.

Pity the poor folks in Greensburg when Blackwater rolls into town...

8. Town by town, county by county, the Bush administration ignores
the traumas at home while it profits and nation-builds in the Middle East. Absolutely disgusting. I'm glad my Kansan parents aren't around to hear these pathetic excuses.

Kansas is my home, and this is killing me inside.

10. Privatizing the disaster response...just what the Bushies want
Those bastards won't stop gutting our resources until hiring private contractors is the only way we can deal with future disasters.

18. Maybe if we'd start blaming the natural disasters on Iran, we'd get some help.
OTOH, they might let it come to even more of a crisis--they whole administration is founded on disaster.

20. Junior: "To the extent we can help, we will." I knew these people were fucked when
bush said it's going to take a long time to recover. The Commander's action plan: pray. "The most important thing now is for our citizens to ask for the good Lord to comfort those who hurt," he said.

22. MN: Wildfires; IA Flooding; 100 Tornados that weekend
It is only a few weeks until Hurricane season and I imagine I am missing other state events.

Perhaps we could recap for the Pentagon since they don't seem to know what the hack is going on anywhere.

See if the equipment were available, then the clean up could begin. And if the clean up were on going then there would be no pile of rubble for Bush to stand on when he visits tomorrow.

And we all know how much he loves standing on rubble piles.
