Poll question: Media coverage since the Gulf Disaster has been
I think it has been very good. However I have also noticed a
definite downturn since the primaries this past Tuesday.

1. Poor, given the implications of the ongoing disaster
Little coverage to what is happening to wildlife, plants, and fish. Too much stenography of announcements by either BP or the federal government. Local Louisiana media has been more on top of the story than the national media.

2. MSMedia's collective brain underwent so much apathy in the Bush years that it is pea-sized
and can't handle anything of complexity or implication. Just short soundbites, please - that's all they can handle. And implications? They don't even comprehend what it means.

3. Olberman and Rachel very good -- C-span has repeated the hearings...very good --
just info gathering at this point - despicable corps blaming one another!

HOWEVER . . .

Oil hearings live day before yesterday and something else were missing . . .

C-span had some kind of a problem??!!

5. Overall coverage has suffered since Thursday.
I had CNN on all day Saturday and there was very little.
Nothing on "60 Minutes"

"Related News Articles" on google news had dropped from 20k to 5k this past week as well.

And now apparently there was an event at the leak site and the cam has gone down...

6. Oh, wow on the cam . . . I was going to post the link . . got it in e-mail from
some liberal organization -- I'll check it --

What I was saying about C-span is . . . must have been Friday . . . in the

morning C-span Senate and C-span II/Hearings . . . you couldn't connect to them at all!!

First time ever that has happened!!!

Now adding what you're saying . . .

Thanks for your info --

Btw, it was MARKEY who forced them to put the live cam -- not that I got to see that part

of the hearing -- and now the cam is down!!

Wow --------

7. Worthy of scorn. Its mostly flipping between working on the "Obama's Katrina" meme
, attempting to minimize the disaster, and distracting from the clear dangers of off shore extraction.

10. They seem to settle for whatever they are spoon fed by BP.

They appear to be to damn lazy to go out and get the facts of the story.

14. Poor, but ...

I don't understand why you provided a qualifier to that option. I would say "poor" for entirely different reasons.

15. Local news has been much better.
CBS has done the best job out of the Big 3, and Rachel Maddow has done the best on cable infotainment.

22. If I had a hazmat suit, a boat, and field gear...
Hopefully, by now, there are many professionals (USGS, NOAA, et al) in the field acquiring air samples and in-situ ground/water samples, etc.

I still have a shred of faith left. :patriot:

A small, constant side box with the live feed would be nice, CNN.
