Iran repeated an offer to assist with the Gulf accident, calling it
calling it no great challenge compared to its own past oil spills.

U.S. says must rely on BP to stop oil;Iran offers help

I hope Washington will take their help if they truly are capable of shutting this oil volcano down!

2. So what are they selling?
A smart person would ask 3 questions, not one (as you did).

1. What are they selling?

2. What would it cost?

3. What are the merits/demerits of making the transaction?

6. They are selling propaganda
Edited on Sun May-23-10 08:40 PM by WeDidIt
They have absolutely no experience with a well under a mile of water.

Their deepest offshore well is under 25 meters of water.

They are selling propaganda to their people. Nobody in the international world takes their offers seriously as they have no clue about operating at such depths.

Accepting their offer would actually hinder efforts because they would be learning from those who DO have expertise under this much water.

7. 1. What are they selling? A smokescreen

2. What would it cost? Ignoring their nuclear program.

3. What are the merits/demerits of making the transaction? Being suckered.

5. The Iranians would have it already capped now...
...but for Obama's needing to maintain cozy relationships with campaign donors, and with the oil companies. And Israel. Also.

(Thought I'd save the rest of you the effort, since I have this comment stored as a macro. It's saved me hours the last few weeks. I don't even need to think about what I type. But since it's DU, that isn't always a problem.)

9. BS. Iran is just poking the US in the eye. They have little experience capping
wells at sea.

12. If I were the person answering this question, I would say YES, SURE!

What are your plans?
What do propose doing?
Why do you believe this will work when all the different things that have been tried so far have failed?

To me this s calling their bluff. If, and it's a very bigIF, they really do have a good idea that willwork, that's great and we'd owe them a lot for being successful. If their idea(s) have already been tried, will not work for a demonstramable reason, or they'rejust BSng & they don't have any ideas at all, the US at least would look good in the eys of the World for accepting their offer even in the eye of such mistrust by both countries.
