7. A good and necessary step ...
However, we still need health care for all ... including mental health care.

One of my first votes in the NH House was to pass a mental health parity law. It's time for this to become a reality at the national level!

13. This was the legislation that Paul was so passionate about before he died.
Please, please, please call your congress-critters to ask them to support this. This would be such a wonderful way to honor Senator Wellstone's memory.

16. Paul's brother suffered from Schizophrenia.
Indeed supporting this is a wonderful way to pay tribute to the late great Senator.

17. I can't believe that it has taken 4.5 years after the death of Paul to
bring this to the floor again. I really hopes this is finally ready to be passed. I still can't believe that it's been 4.5 years since we lost Paul. Sigh.

19. Another Step Toward Civilization
If it passes, our whole society will take one step forward. Social Security and other departments of Government have already added mental and emotional/cognitive illnesses and problems to their list of covered disabilities, and the VA and other military-related psychological advocates have been trying to get recognition for post-traumatic stress disorders for many years now. Once they are able to make the case, and why this is a fact--and the American people are generally miles ahead of the "official" levels of these issues--then coverage tends to follow, even if slowly. I hope this advances the more general acceptance of mental illness, of those who can't cope with or fit a corporate society of increasing pressure and dwindling help, which is breaking us all, and for those with brain injuries of many kinds.
