The Revolution (in Jefferson Parrish LA) Will Not Be Televised.

Jefferson Parish Emergency managers say they have commandeered all of BP's hired boats in Grand Isle.

He said more than 40 boats were sitting idle while he watched the oil rush into the passes.

Finally. Somebody grew a pair and told BP: I have two forms of ID. You can suck them both.

8. With 40 more boats, you've got 40 more booms.
that can keep a lot of oil away from the shore.

12. Exactly. It's been depressing seeing so little leadership from officals.
It looks like no one wants to be stuck holding a hot potato. It's nice to have DU at times like these, welcome.

Hair booms with donated material have already been made, awaiting BPs acceptance. But BP said they already have enough (enough for what I don't know). See matteroftrust.org

So BP just had boats sitting idle, huh? The extremist side of me wants them banned from doing business in this country after this disaster is over, if it is ever truly over. I'd like to see them go out of business after all of their financial resources are used up dealing with this disaster. And if Transocean is involved as well, same for them.

Fight the good fight people. The more BP destroys, the more that ruined land will be useful for nothing but drilling...which appears to be the game plan.

Once again Jefferson Parish takes are of there own. They do not wait for the other and most of the time help other Parishes.

attn: windhorse actually there is an even better solution to wax. It's called MOP (Maximum Oil Pickup) and it's made by a company in Bath, NH. It's very similar to idea of using powdered wax to absorb the oil, and keep it floating. But it can be skimmed out, the crude oil squeezed and sold, and the product can be re-used over and over again. it's basically sponge that only absorbs oil and it's very effective. just saw some videos the other day about them. look em up.

GREAT MOVE!!!!! it's time to take matters in our own hands and help ourselves. it's obvious no one is going to help us do it so we should do it and send BP the bill. they are legally responsible for paying for the clean up. more leaders need to take the bull by the horns and step up.

glad to hear it

windhorse2000 said on May 22, 2010 at 8:53 PM

There is a solution to picking up the oil on the surface of the water or land,......there is no mention of it thus far in your articles. Powdered wax. By throwing powdered wax on the oil, it wioll leave the water or land an move into the the small particles of wax. This technique will pick up quickly 99% of the oil. Than you just pick up the solid wax that contains the oil. The cost for booms, sands bags, etc. is running in the tens of million of dollars and progress has been poor. Put people on the beaches, islands on the water with small boats with buckets of powdered wax. You'll have it cleaned in no time.

Out here in the West Coast we are so sorry to learn of all the damage to your precious bays and bayous. BP should be taken over by the State of Louisiana in my opinion. What a bunch of bunglers! What a sad disaster. We pray for you all.

What the heck, does anyone have any sense, commander the boats. Great idea whoever made that call.

10. Kicking. An action taken directly by local government.
One might think it would warrant more attention than it is getting here.
